I picked up an 08 iqr 600 at the end of the race season and the secondary clutch is loose on the jackshaft. I can slide it back and forth about a 1/4inch. I pulled the clutch off and there are no washers or shims on the back side of the clutch. should there be? How much play should their be if any? Could you guys give me some input on this one.
thanks

A little play is fine. It's when the clutch doesn't move at all that you have problems, because it is rusted on the jackshaft:(

Yeah, your good, at one SnoX I forgot to tighten the secondary bolt and it fell out and while I was racing, nothing happend. I just borrowed one for the rest of the day. I think it was Tom's bolt too and I had to get him a new one...oops.

The guy i got the sled from must have forgotten to tighten the bolt to cause i took it out by hand. Good thing i only rode it a couple times after i picked it up. I'm just gonna tighten the bolt down and run it the way it is.
thanks

Yeah it doesn't need to be very tight only about 15lbs or so.

hmm ive run with out the bolt before haha as long as ur aliment is good theroticly it should never come off cause the belt should keep it in line.. not saying to run with out but u get the idea

theres supposed to be some play so when the motor shifts it can help keep the clutches aligned

If you rode it without the bolt and blew a belt the secondary could come flying off at several thousand RPM's? Just sayin'.
