This question may have been asked before but I was wondering if a polaris iq seat will fit on my 2001 xcf 440? Will there have to be modification or will it fit right on?

Anything will fit with the right fabricating....but I would go with a proX large tank/race seat combo. It should fit easier.

Will any other seats fit without modification like a shorty? just looking for something that will fit right on with no modification.

shorty will fit if you have the edge style tank

Go with a XR shorty, Tom and I looked at putting an IQ seat on mine but they aren't really higher than the stock 02 ProX seat which is about the same height as a standard edge chassis seat.

You can use the IQr seat, but, it's not without mods. I loved mine, well before I parted the ProX, so if you go that way it's worth it.

What did you have to do to make it fit?

There is a great post in the ProX section outlining in pictures what to do. I think if you look for "fusion seat on a edge sled" or something similar.

The basic idea is you remove part or all of the cover, cut the underlying plastic support to fit your application and then adjust the foam to fit the plastic. The IQ seat is narrower that the edge tank, so additionally I had to use a propane torch to soften and mold the plastic around the tank. Then staple the cover back on. It takes some time, but, as you can see from the picts it's well worth it. On the ProX it makes standing a lot easier.
