biggrin.gif I just found a dusty but mint condition JD Sprintfire. I used to work at a JD dealer after school 25 years ago and remember assembling these when they were brand new. This sled was parked many years ago due to a cleat tearing the outer belt of the track. I got this sled for next to nothing, and it's in real nice shape. The speedo shows 900 miles.
Question is where am I going to find a track ???
I'd take another damaged track for the right price.
Maybe I could make one good one from the two. twitch.gif HELP !!!!

Tracks are hard to find for those sleds....check some of the links on my web site - www.VintageSnowmobile.info and be sure to check out www.ACSCC.com - there is a fellow there who occaisionally has tracks for those sleds.

Hi,

Tracks are hard to find for the Sprintfire, but several other sleds in Deere's line up used the same one.

All the following tracks interchange with your Sprint:
78-82 Spitfire
79-80 Trailfire
80 Sportfire
82-84 Snowfire
82-84 Sprintfire

Althought the Trailfire used a cleated track until 84, and the Sportfire used one until 81, the 1981 and later tracks for those two chaincase sleds were 1/2" wider than the other versions. Also, the 78-79 track "seems" more durable than the later versions.

I hope this helps,

Contact Certified Parts Corporation in Janesville Wisconsin, they have warehouses full of new old stock for many old sleds.
