Interesting new topics have been slowing down on all the forums lately and I have noticed the word Haydays pop up on several recent posts, so here goes. I would like to hear what your thoughts are.
600 Stock:
This may well be the class with the most color in it. Yamaha, Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo and Polaris all have models that could be made to run hard in this class. In the right hands the 600 CFI could be the Dark Horse in this one.
700 Stock:
This one has been and will be all Arctic Cat.
800 Stock:
It has been a battle of Ski-Doo 8's and F7's. This year could be different with Arctic Cat's CFR 8 stepping up and if the Polaris 800 produces advertised Hp we should be seeing them as well. If it doesn't, then the racers won't waste their time. I think the Arctic Cat CFR 8 will be an interesting addition to this class.
1000 Stock:
Entering this class you're probably gonna see everything from 1000's, to 800's, right down to F7's. Always an exciting class full of underdogs. The Arctic Cat CFR 1000 should be the sled to watch this year.
LOL September's not that far away guys!

I doubt you'll see a cfi, or F6 in 600, my money is on the sno cross 600's owning the class, all make over 130 hp, and weigh 450 lbs. No trail sled sold to the general public will touch them.
The XFR will make 800 and 1000 interesting, I will bet that the factory poo racers will have a 150 hp 800, (think there will be an epa exemption decal on the ecu or engine)
Never Satisfied

800 will be a re-decaled 03 F-7 as usual.
600 will be Sno-Xers or Apexs
1000 - who knows who cares

As far as the 600 class and factory Sno Crossers? Is there a build rule in effect that requires ??? amount to be built to be able to run? And if so was there that many built by each manufacuter?

If anyone with experience races the 600 Sno-x sled, 08 model it will dominate.

It all depends on if they let Yamaha run their 1,200 cc sled in the air cooled 340 class........

[Yamaha makes a 1200 cc 2 stroke..or 4 stroke for that matter? I think the largest 4 stroke is a 1100cc nytro motor & when taken into consideration it fires on every second powerstroke vs a 2 stroke that fires every time the piston goes up & down I think even in the 600 class the nytro is outgunned. The 2 strokes need to fire twice as often to compete? But al these intelligent posters that know the difference between 2 stroke & 4 stroke motors allready knew that.

Correct. Only 350 racer units were built and ISR states that 500 units need to be built at least one month prior to Haydays to be eligible. Not sure about the speculation. There were about 4 IQs that ran last year, it was pathetic. Wally's motorized bar stool races were more entertainment.

Was told that the ISR pulled the RX & APEX out of the 600 class and put them in the 700 class. I read the 07-08 ISR rule book and there is no mention of that. If they did, there is no way the yammi's can run the #'s a 700 firecat can in 500'...Im more interested in seeing how they (sanctioning bodies) monitor the MINIMUM 180# driver rule in ALL stock classes...

There is a rule against minimum driver weight? So what are the people that are naturally thin supposed to do. I'd have to eat 4 times a day right before the event to get up to 180 in gear. Doesn't seem fair to me.

You add Ballast...The 180# includes your protective gear...Flipside...not fair either for the NATURALLY big person

You generally have decent posts but this makes no sense. Rules like that would only accelerate the decline of drag racing.
I think the stock sleds should all be weight handicapped like Imp stock, Pro Stock, etc.

Why would it accelerate the decline of drag racing? Why should someone like myself not be allowed to race because they don't weight enough?

Jul 2 2008, 01:33 AM
The lighter riders ore ok they can add weight to get to the min. weight the heavyer riders are the ones with the disadvantage you can only take so much weight off the sled. The weight is figured by the listed weight of the sled + 180 lbs for rider and gear if rider and gear is under 180lbs you add weight to the sled.
shortstop20
Jul 2 2008, 03:28 PM
I thought he meant that if you're under 180 pounds in gear you can't race.

To be legal to run there has to be 500 of the specific model built at the time of the race according to ISR rules. I don't think they have 500 built yet. I talked to a guy at the SLP booth yesterday, and he had nothing but good to say about the 800 motor and the power output. He said don't worry about what you read on here, you'll be happy with the power. It was one on one, and he wasn't trying to sell me anything. Seemed genuine. I liked to hear that. He said the 800 dragon was the test guys' favorite sled by far.

Also talked to an engineer at the polaris booth, and he said basically the same thing as the slp guy, and he also said they are being produced now, and on schedule for delivery this month. Also good news.

They aren't built yet. Superior power to weight ratio king is the Doo XP.

Why are you always so negative? The freakin' sled hasn't even come out yet. You should eat your deposit and go get that turbocharged tank, I mean Cat and get out of our forums. I know your gonna tear me up, but you have been spewing negativity since day one on this sled. It isn't even built yet!
