I've still got to get my quad fixed but everyone should look up MI-Trale's website and check out all the new trails they are opening in the western U.P. They have a new map coming out and on it is the new Pioneer trail which will take you from Bergland to Rockland. The new trail opens at the end of June and it should be pretty cool. They had the national guard help out and they did over 100 culverts. I've ridden this area before and it is great riding. This trail will connect you to the Bill Nicholls trail which has lots of other trails off it. They are also working on other connector trails which will give access to more trails without having to trailer. They say the grade from Watersmeet should now connect to Lake Gogebic trails. Haven't seen the map yet myself but I'm glad to hear they are making an effort to expand the ATV trails in the U.P.

Get some pic's!!! We LOVE riding that area in the winter, would love to ride wheelers up there too. Keep us posted.

If it's half as fun in the summer as it is in the winter it would make the gas price seem not so bad!!

These are 2 pics of the riding near Rockland. The Pioneer or P trail is actually snowmobile trail 13 which goes to Bergland. Its not new but it is officially opened for 4 wheelers. If you are up there pick up a MI-TRALE map it has locations of trailhead parking and good info on it. Overall the trails were great. A few muddy and rutted out sections but overall not bad. And the mud is fun to play in anyways. Most of the trails are hilly and windy although they did a lot of logging as you can see in the one pic on top of the hill but the trail is still in good shape. The other trail north of Rockland is good too. It is called the Calcedonia or C trail and it goes to Greenland which connects you to the Bill Nicholls trail. There is a washout by the tressel bridges but I'm told that its been fixed but have not seen it first hand. A good place to drop a trailer is just east of Bergland off M-28 or in Rockland out back of Henry's Inn.

Looks like it might be worth the diesel to make a trip up there.

If I can figure out a weekend anyone want to be my guide? Or go exploring with me. biggrin.gif

Let me check my race schedule, but that might work out for me to go riding with you.

I hope it isn't a problem that I'll be bringing a sport quad. So now foot deep mud holes for me.
