I'm new to quadding and 4-stroke engines.
I've been around 2 strokes for a long time and have no trouble re-ringing an engine.
I've recently bought an 01 scrambler that burns oil:
-visible blue smoke when revving the engine
-when following this quad you can always smell oil
-oil drops ~0.5l in about 6h of riding!
-antifreeze level does not move
-fresh oil turned black within ~5h of riding
What do I need to do to fix this?
I've heard it may be valve seals? and/or rings?
Should I do both while I have the engine apart?
Are there any other things I should check or look for while tearing into it? or before opening it up?
Will this be expensive?
