Well now that i only have a 440 i need to buy a new mountain sled. Hoping to get something in the next few months here before prices climb up. I have found some 2008 M8's for about $6000-6500, i think thats a pretty good price. Any input from the guys who have ridden these sleds is greatly appreciated. Also i only tip the scales at 160lbs so would a 1000 be a little to much sled for me? Thanks.

i used to ride a xf 700 , it felt pretty good in mn/wi as far as hp go. sold that and got a 08 m8 early spring for 6500 somewhat locally ( 40 miles from me ). i thought the m8 would come in around the same hp as the xf700 was that i was ok with at elevation. im 240 geared easy
i dont think you wil find as many m1ks available for reasonable asthe 800s. but i would first look for the best deal. if a sled is 1k cheeper 1000 miles away ,, its really not 1000 cheeper, considering if you drive to get it. both take to mods well from what i have read and im sure a 1k would be just as easy to toss around for ya as the 800 after a few rides

Why go wit the 8 when you can get a 1k... I can toss a sled around pretty dang good, and yes, it does take some work to toss these things around. Thats a big ole motor under the hood... Power wise, they are awesome... It obviously isn't set up for lake racing, but out on the lake, with a few inches of hard snow, i ran away from everthing i raced.... On the trails they are a handfull cause it don't take much to break the track lose and wit all the power and the narrow front end you can get urself in trouble quick... and in the power... all i can say is hold the hell on...

Im gonna get whatever the better deal is, there is alot more 8's around right now. When i have the money for one if i can only find good deal on a 8 thats what i'll get. Also a couple years down the road im gonna turbo the sled so i dont know that i really need a 1k for that. I got a friend that has a 05 M7 with a Cutler 1000 in it, ive rode that a couple times and is really easy for me to toss around in the pow, im coming off a ZR chassis 162" so i know what hard work is, that sled was a tank!

The M8s ive found are about an hour away from me also

well it already sounds like you have your mind made up... I'm sure the M8 would be a fun rocket, but if it were me i would go right to the top... 1000's accept turbo's just fine...

Just buy a M1000 and don't look back.
One fellow told me once when i asked the same question "Why would you buy a 800 when there is a 1000 available"
The M 1000's plain out rip.

Go with the M8 unless you have a hefty woman.....

M7 best bang for the buck. Will run with the 8 & 1k all day. It's also alot lighter!

Unless you're climbing huge hills or you just want the extra power what's the point of the 1000? The 800 will go just as far in most cases. Not saying these guys are wrong just playing the devil's advocate. thumbsup.png

1000 w/ the SLP single and a boondocker box. no question.

i almost bought a 1000 then i got to thinking again. I can get an 09 M8 for the same price as an 08 1000. Now i dont know what to do again. they are both sno pros that im looking at also

well i bought the 09 M8 snopro today. i figured i didn't need the 1000 really and with all the improvments for 09 i think its worth it, and they are about 25lbs less than the 08's
