Hi,

Last ride of the season I bent one rail inward and made some notches where the axle goes through the rail on both so I'm looking for someone who can repair them. The bent one isn't that bad but I'd like it to be as true as possible again, otherwise I'll have to buy a new one. The notches look like they can be brazed(sp?) and ground down. Any suggestions on where to go?

As for the notches, you can't braze aluminum. They should be tig welded and machined.

Post up a picture of the bent rails. It might just be easier to replace them if they're available.

Hey Ryan, Check this stuff out. I had a shock repaired with this stuff and it worked pretty good. The fitting for my remote ressy pulled out and buggered my shock body. Filled in the hole with this stuff and re-tapped it. The mechanic that used it said he has blown away how well it worked and how easy it was to use. You couldn't tell the difference in the end. I can't say for sure if it will work in your application. Watch the video and let me know what you think. It looks pretty crazy when the guy beats on it with a hammer and bends the bar without breaking the joint.

I saw some a lot cheaper on e-bay. Around $25 or so.

Cheers!

I had pics but I think they were lost in translation b/w my old laptop and new one, I'll have to upload them again.

Take it to Jim Bouman at Bouman Ent. If it can be fixed, he'll fix it and it will be done right.

Look up Grant at SGM Welding. He lives pretty close to you too. If its aluminum he can fix it.

I was told by a friend of mine who used to race that if you weld rails it just makes them brittle and weak. The rail will be more susceptible to breaking because it is weak right by the weld.
