can anyone give me a little bit of a tip on how to get my flywheel off? and are there any bolts behind the flywheel that would keep me from splitting the cases.
ivar
Do you have a proper flywheel puller?

Yes,you'll need to take off the flywheel and stator to split the cases
Zsnow
no i don't haha. i was using a steering wheel puller haha,

where can i get a flywheel puller?

HPE, SPX/Kent Moore tools, or your dealer.

If you have a good steering wheel puller , not a cheap discount store one. It will work with the right amount of bolts--------4 is the min. and I had to go down to napa and buy the highest grade they had (bolts). Cost me like $2.90 for the 8mm (3.2" work for me) bolts fine thread, think thats them, doing it off mem- could be wrong thro.

I had the puller already, I thought the same thing. WTF I was putting a lot of poop on my puller and it was not coming off. I was thinking bolts (nuts)(WTF) must be behind it.

Then I read the post were the Polaris puller sit flush with the flywheel, I knew it would be hard to get off then. And one of TOMS post were he uses a puller only. I love the search and this site.

I was using a 1/2" drive on the ratchet, when I thought I don't have much more to give it then--- POP!!! The flywheel came off, I only weight out at 200 lbs.

I thought the dam bolts would bend or break but they didnt, I put a poop load of love on them.

what he said, high grade bolts!
I think the kits use 10.9 bolts. Also make sure they are not too long, hitting the magnets inside the flywheel. And make sure the threads on the center bolt is lubed.

Well, you wouldn't hit the magnets, but rather the stator components if the bolts were too long, also, I use grade 12.9 bolts. Flush mounted pullers are the only way to go and can be purchased at SPX Kent Moore, Hi performance Engineering, or your dealer, Watercraft flywheel pullers from Polaris are best and are extreme heavy duty.

Do use use lesser grade bolts? I had to locate a supplier for the 12.9 bolts, the lesser grade bolts would snap after a few uses, and we pull lots of flywheels in the shop so the better grade was needed.

Also... A little lube on the bolt in the center of the puller makes a really big difference.. beer_cheers.gif
