pro's and con's of the two?
somebody
the honda will be a little more reliable but at the expense of performance. tons of aftermarket for both machines. IMO it comes down to which fits you better and what kind of deal can you find.

if you're looking at used models stay away from the earlier AC/suz/kawi's. they had frame/axle/swingarm cracking/braking problems, and the cam chain tensioner is problematic. hondas also had weak timing chains and need routine valve adjustments. the earlier ex's didn't have reverse either.

I have a 1999 400ex and i never had to tuch the valve`s or timing chain. but it would be nice to have reverse.

but that is just my 2 cents

Actually looking at an 04 Arctic Cat 400 dvx-very clean, approx 30-40hrs,lots of accessories i.e guards bumpers. What kind of top end speed would this have, similar to a 400 ex?

Dvx will be faster all around and have 4-5mph higher top speed. Some of the 04's had weld issues with the front shocks though, but that was the only issue with them. Overall the dvx is a way better buy
