All my dealer papers along with the 09 skid plate parts numbers show it as having the same new tube style bumper as the Dragon SP and RMK models along with a super vented hood like the FST models have. This will be one great last run of a nice little fanner curious to find out what its 2010 replacement will be.

I wouldn't hold yer breath until you start seeing the actual sleds with 'em. Polaris website gallery of photos is of no use either. It shows the Shift 550 with the new bumper and hood in some pictures, and it shows the old bumper and hood in other pictures. On their "features" list, it makes no mention of this sled having the new bumper, where on the Assult and a few others it mentions the new "Raw tubular bumper". If it had it, I'd think they'd try to promote it, right? Then again the Polaris website also STILL shows that all new Poos are getting the P2 clutch...while in fact very few actually are according to the blog on this site (most of the sleds will continue to get Teams...except maybe your 550 which could indeed get a P2). And while I'm on the blog topic, it also seems to have been abandoned by Polaris. Wouldn't it be nice if this company actually got its marketing and customer relations act together?

Let us know what you get when it arrives...I'm sure many others are curious as well.

If ed is correct in that the 09 parts fiche are actually starting to show up with part numbers, that's a real good clue I'd think that you're getting the new bumper. I haven't personally seen an 09 fiche anywhere yet. Anyone know of a link on-line? All the ones I find still only have 2008.

that vented hood also screws me for most of the decal packages as well. oh well it will be fun anyhow. my buddies will get a kick out of it. i usually run at front on the lakes so this year it will be to the bar to the bar. lol

may pick up one of these sleds for myself,it will have the narrow front end with the aluminum bumper,p2 2ndary clutch and full size iq plastic skis instead of the cheesy camoplast blowmold ones, the chaincase cover is black powdercoated aluminum so it wont warp like the plastic ones and it also has a nice looking pipe with aluminum heat sheilds and after muffler.i say 96 studs down the middle, the full size rear trunk bag that fits under the seat and you got yourself one nice trail sled, and the newer nickasil cyl are much more reliable than the old cast iron sleeves.

The chaincase cover is magnesium, so it is strong, light, and stands up to much higher temperatures than aluminum. You are right that it won't warp though. I wouldn't want to bust one of these though, I could imagine it being fairly expensive.
