I have just been informed of a meeting to refine next years Vintage Race series details and with the level of interest we got last year thought that some of you out there would want to add input that we could use. Last year's series was successful and we will definitely do it again, but we are thinking about adding one or more additional venues, talking about dates, rules, times, advertising, etc.

We have also been thinking about adding additional classes and would like to hear your comments to use in our discussions!

Thanks for your help!

Thanks! Appreciate your response! We had talked about 440's and had lots of interest in that class!

It's difficult to "draw the line" on motor size and year of manufacture, without causing some ripple effects!

Posted this on another site but wanted to put it out here for some feedback too.

I was wondering if one of the races could be timed with one of the vacation weekends? Especially for us flatlanders who can't do a two day weekend.

Also it seems to be easier to find 400 and 440cc older sleds than the smaller displacements. I think it would be more fun to keep the displacements smaller as is currently but sled availability may be an issue. However, an alternative to keep the sled supply better may be to have the cutoff year roll with the current year. Meaning for 2007 the cutoff year sled was 1973. For 2008, the cutoff year would be 1974.

What about these?

No question, stuff like that is incredible to watch run. I can remember watching Starfires Run at a small track in Troy N.H. in the early to mid seventies on friday nights under the lights. Name of the track was Tommilas Brookside Speeday and it was off rt 12 and located behind a saw mill which made saw dust availavle to make a super, banked over. If you went off turn one you found out why the called it Brookside, with a good size water hazard about 10 to 15 feet down. hyper.gif

How could we find anyone to compete against that Quality Iron? bowdown.gif

Not easy drawing lines on what classes would be good competitive races to watch as well as compete in! nuts.gif wall.gif

Thanks for the reply and the pic! Do you own them both?

If so, I'm officially jealous. hear_no_evil.gif

Way too nice, even I would feel bad about ruining one of those and I could care less if I scratch my Crossfire,

Been hoping for a post like this to pop up! My thoughts............Keep the emphasis on the singles, but add the 440 twin class. Hell, let em race 775's if it brings in a crowd, but keep your payouts for the singles- thats where your numbers will probably be..............Keep the cutoff for vintage at 1973, After 73, the technology changed and the sleds started to get faster. I probably feel the strongest on that point,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,If you want newer sleds, then start a new, but seperate class- maybe 73 to 80 or something. I dont really know where you would cut that one off.............No Mods! People start modding out a sled for speed and the temptation will be there to sneak it into a stock sled. Stock is cheap, fast enough, and fun!.............While you're at it, maybe tech a few sleds a little closer. I saw a couple that were a little suspicious, and more will pop up...............How about an overall "tour" champion,...and maybe even class champions. (maybe I'll bring the Elan back, although it's great to use for sugaring season!)............... Overall, my compliments to the organisers- you're events were really well run! And thanks again- this is the hobby I've been waiting for since riding my Dad's Oly out in the pasture when I was 11!

Just got back from the Vintage Race committee meeting, at which it was decided to add a 440 Twin Class. boogieboy.gif Congrats your in! schild27.gif

We have chosen Three Race Dates for this coming season.

Details will be posted on the Race website soon!

It looks like this season will be bigger and better with the additional date and several other inclusions that we will post soon!

This should be great news to all the guys I've talked to who are sitting on 440's hoping they would have a chance to run!

I heard a rumor that you were going to do some sort of series with the Lisbon stump jumpers as they did a vintage race last year. I liked the way both races were run. Will definitely be back next year.

Just a question about race dates. Is there a way to coordinate with Lisbon and try to change one of your dates. I think it will hurt both of the events turnout. I will be going to the Lisbon race instead of Colebrook because it is closer to home and on the same date. I hope you can work something out and one of you change your date.
Thanks Erich

We tried to remain sensitive to the conflict with the Lisbon event, but we cannot ignore the potential of having huge crowds that will be in the area for the Easter Seals Ride In the same weekend at the Balsams. We ran the Colebrook event on the first weekend of February last year and did the same this year, it just so happened to end up on that date, and there's not much we can do about it now although we have had conversations with people from Lisbon about the conflict.

We had communications from the Lisbon people before setting the date last year, but did not have the benefit of that info this year, although there's not much we could have done about it. We tried to avoid conflicts with events all around us but couldn't avoid this one.
