ok. about 4 monthes ago i bought a 2003 polaris xcsp700...well i went for about a 10 minute ride and lost a crank bearing.

so long story short. i found a XCR800. could i put the edge suspension(front and rear) and my 2 inch 136 track on it? would it be a good ditch banging.fast trail. lake sled?
Zsnow
can anyone give me any info?
ivar
You could put the edge rear into the xcr without too much work (just relocate the mounting brackets). But the 2" will not fit from what I heard, too tight in the front of the tunnel. The edge front would not fit without major work.

An XCR would not be my first choice for a ditch banger, too nose heavy. But would make a nice fast sled for the trails & lake. Got one myself, with a pro-x rear skid and 1.25" track.
One other option would be to fit the XCR mill into the 03. Lots of info on that swap in the xc/xcr forum.
Zsnow
yeah i was planning on doing the XCR swap in my 03. stuff gets super expensive doing that tho. and i don't know if i want to mess with clutching and jets and gearing with out anywhere to start.

I agree with ivar, the XCR chassis is not really a ditch bangin' set up. For the trail and the lake its great. You can put pretty much any rear suspension in any tunnel assuming the track widths are the same... you simply have to relocate your mounting holes to get the suspension to work properly. If you really want to have a 136 X 15 X 2 paired with an XCR motor, your best bet would be to put the motor in the Edge chassis.

if you have the xcr 800 sled, the less expense would be to fit the edge rear suspension in gen II chassis, you wont gain much on the front end swap and I believe only the front shocks from the edge will work on the xcr gen II front end.

The xcr is a much better lake/trail cruiser than a ditch banger.

121" 1.25 shockwave polaris OEM track is the way to go on the XCR IMPO

You are correct about the expense about the xcr mill in the edge chassis.
if you do choose to go that route there are plenty of us Edge-XCR Builders
around to help guide you.
Zsnow
well im ready to be guided on my xcr-edge build grin.png

Good!!

a few ways I know of doing this build.

HTG Way using either drilled motor straps or Power Addiction Inc motor plate, new 3 hole airbox plate, and a modified chassis mount for the motor strap to bolt too, HTG Pipes for the edge chassis xcr mill @ $825.00 new

and

The Way I built mine

I built mine starting using the xcr airbox, a motor plate from Power Addiction Inc is a must, and a more costly build due to needing build a custom aluminum oil tank, and having the HTG pipes hand built to the
setup in the chassis due to alignment and placement of the motor.

in Either way you take the build you would really be better off in having HTG hand build the pipes for much better fitting pipes to the stock xcr 800 can, also use the stock xc can exhaust support bracket with
the center of it cut out.

choose you're method, and we can start from there

Zsnow
ill go with the 3 hole intake plate and the HTG stuff.with moto x and stuff i just don't have time for COMPLETELY custom hand built things. but some custom stuff i can do.

make a call to htg http://htgracing.com/ for details,
but in short take you're xc 700 motor straps, and bulkhead mount mag side rear, and send it off to HTG for strap drilling and modification of the bulkhead mount, order the 3 hole carb plate for the xc airbox, and a set of htg triple pipes for the edge xcr 800 conversion. You will also need to re-locate mag side front motor mount.

ivar
Will the 3 hole carb plate work with the smaller air box used by 03-> edges?

I have to believe HTG developed the 01 n 02 and 03 > a/b versions
