I'm looking at the Z1R Eclipse Snow and the HJC CL-Max. They are both modular helmets and cant decide between the two. Which one is a better helmet for snowmobiling? Which one will be warmer?

I like to ride different places and have had sheilds break on the trail, last 2 I replaced I was 3-400 miles from the truck, you can always find an HJC dealer even in Canada so I'll only look at HJC helmets.

if you like playing off trail go with a motox style helmet. and goggles. much better and never have to worry bout them fogging up.

HJC, never a problem.

I use a CL-Max. Had it for 3 years. Love the helmet. Replace the shield every year, kinda a PITA to change, you'll get used to it. No experience with the Z1R.

I went sno cross at the end of the year and absolutely love it. Probably will only wear my heated full shield when it's freezing rain or below 10 degrees.

^^^^ I agree with Jeremy on that, I take 2 helmets and choose based on temp/percipitation. Saddlebagging I wear a full face because you don't know what conditions will be like on furture days.

To add to Jeff, the reason for the sno x style with goggles is it seems like the vision is more expanded, the helmet is lighter, don't worry about fogging, etc.

If you haven't tried one you should. Never been cold with one yet.

I am going with an open face next year as well. Anyone have any experience with the comfort and fit of the no-fog system? Can you wear it with a blaclava also.

I have a Bv2s that I love WHEN, its cold cold! I also have a sno-x that I got last yr and where goggles and love it. I wore that more than the Bv2. I agree with Legend700 on taking 2 when you go and then wearing one or the other depending on the weather. The sno-x helmet I have is awesome it has a removeable shield you can take with you just in case and the great thing is they are very affordable I think I gave $110 for the helmet and $65 for some good goggles. Here is the link for the one I have http://www.g-max.com/gmax/images/gm37x-derk.jpg

I read a ton on Dootalk and everyone recommended those with the sno-x. Before I even bought my helmet I figured I would have to buy on. I just suited up with a baclava with the built in neck warmer, and I was all set. The fit with the googles to the right helmet make it very warm. Won't know what I'm talking about till you try one. They are remarkably very warm.

sno x style is the way to go all day long.I had the skidoo modular and the sheild is so dam expensive you can buy another helmet for the cost of the sheild and if i buy another full face it will be a hjc because they are also affordable but motox you never have to worry about fog ups
