Just wondering what the +/- are for each. I've heard both good and bad about the VF3; haven't really heard much about the Boysen reeds but the little that i have heard is generally good. I ride a 2001 XCSP 700 (non VES), all stock except for clutching and suspension/track.
Let me know your opinion!
Thanks guys!

Boyesen's will provide sharper throttle response over stock...maybe better low end to mid fuel economy to. Pretty much the same with vforce reeds. Neither will really any hp to a stock motor. Vforce 3 reeds will work better than the boyesen's in a modded moter....more mods the better.

I really liked the boyesen rad valves in my slp piped 700 ves. Not sure which is better.

If you're looking for longevity, the BOYESEN units come as a one piece solid casting
Performance wise they are generally pretty similar
the new RAGE CAGE systems from BOYESEN ( with the power wings ) have worked very well in dyno tests as recorded over this past winter - especially on the 600 & 1000 SDI models
hope this helps

I have been running vforce 3 in my sled for over 4000 miles never had a problem with them. Both are good reeds but not cheap.

So it sounds like either one will work just fine.... would you guys say putting performance reeds in is a worthwhile purchase??? I'm looking more for better throttle response and acceleration vs. top end speed.
Thanks!

Knowing what i now now from experience of using vforce reeds in a stock sled...definetly a waste of money. Best value when the stock reeds wear out is to replace them with just the boyesen power reed petals....performance will be identical to the big dollar vforce or boyesen cages. With a modified motor...thats a differen outcome.

I see in your original post that you have done some clutching. What have you put in?
I agree with Too Slow, those $250 are better spent elsewhere on a stock sled, eg. getting jetting/clutching spot on etc. Or spend a couple $100 more and get a SLP single, they worked good on the non valved 700's from what I heard.

In all honesty... i don't know exactly what the clutch set up is. I bought the sled last fall at Haydays, and it had the a clutch kit already installed in it. I know that everything was changed... weights, primary spring, secondary spring and helix. The helix is a metallic purple and the primary spring is purple as well. Don't know exactly what the weights are... the original ones (which i still have) were 10-60's. The sled tops out at about 102 mph with a 1.5" paddle track and max rpm is 7900. Any idea's on what i might have....? Or anyone know what an ideal clutch set up would be? I like a sled that has awesome acceleration but can still hit 100 mph.
Thanks guys for all the help! Keep it coming!
