You should beat them, all things being equal. The ZRT is rated at 118hp if I remember correctly, and especially the first ones (96?) were fast from what I've heard. So it might be closer than you'd like... You should have close to 10 hp on the ZL.

Don't know about 100% bone stock...but i've run some of the best tuned zrt6's with my 00 600 gen2 and 01 edge 600 sleds. The gen2 xc600sp would open up a 3 sled lead in the first 200 ft. and maintain it till the speedo registered 115 mph plus. The edge 600 was good for a sled or two in a 1/4 mile run...after that those zrts would walk on it. Ran a couple of 600 zl's back in 02 with my 02 edge 600...pretty even race for 1000 ft...then zl's walk....they got good top end for a twin...lot like the old gen2 polaris 00 600.

zl6's are good for around 88-92mph considering they are in good shape belt/clutch wear wise (if clutched accurately and not over revving that is)
zrt's in good trim ('97's) will pull upper 90's to 104mph range (again, properly clutched rpm wise)
edges, both '01 and '02's should beat the zl6,, the zrt?? that depends on how good of shape and how accurate the clutching/belt combo is,, off the line, they should put 1 to possibly 3 sleds on zrt, but if zrt is on,, top end goes to zrt IMHO

ok so what would u say top speed of my edge is stock? and the zrt is old and has been crashed with minor damage and he had to redo the carbs cuz they had to much gunk and water in them.

None of the 600 edges i 've owned were terribly impressive in top speed runs...1/2 mile or more. My 00 600 xcsp gen 2 was by far the screamer up top. Those sleds walked 700's in their day. I don't care what anyone says...those zl 600's motor pretty good on top...at least the later ones. Spot on jetting...good clutching...studed track and good chassis setup/alignment are real important to giving the edge a good chance.

right now it has everything but the good clutching but the jetting i think the guy said is said to 420 or 400 or something like that in your opinion "too slow" is there anything i can do to the sled without going out and buying a kit and springs and shit cuz i dont know enough about sleds to tear into it and do that kind of work without some help

I don't really know much about those Cats, but your XC is 120 HP... bone stock should run over 100 mph pretty easily.

Put some 60 gram weights in it. I gained 3 mph in the 1000' and 1/4 mile, and 4 mph on top-speed. It went 101 mph bone-stock, 105 with 60 gram weights. That was with my 2002 600xcsp.
Back in 2002, at the 1/4 mile radar run, my 600 with the 60 gram weights, was 6 mph faster than a stock 2002 zr 600.
Both of my 500sp's are faster in the 1000', than any stock 600zr/zl that i have seen.
As far as top-speed goes, my 2002 500 edge/x was the fastest sled i ever owned. It still baffles me, it had to be the secondary clutch set-up.(the r-8 helix, with the silver/blue spring in hole no. 1)

A 600 xc is not 120 hp....a buddy dynoed them at 114-116 hp. The 600 apv cat motor makes 118 hp in the zl. Make it a short race with the xc...under a 1/4 mile. Use a polaris almond blue spring and 62 weights in the primary clutch....hsp 34x helix with an epi orange sping...2nd hole or a polaris r8 helix epi purple spring...2nd hole. Run at least a 120 stud pattern in the track and set the torsion springs at the lowest preload setting....move the rear scissor stops to the rear most hole for max transfer. Some of this setup won't be very good to trail ride but it will be competitive with most 600 bone stock sleds in 1/4 mile or less runs.

Yea that should be a cake walk. One of my friends have a edge 600 and beat an 2 F7 1 F8 and a pumped out F6.

I raced a 2001 or 2002 ZRT 600 (APV valves) a couple of years ago. My Pro-X 600 crushed the ZRT pretty hard out of the hole, and at 90 - 95 mph when I had to start braking, I was still WAY out in front. I also raced another 600 triple/triple -- a Ski Doo Formula III -- but I just barely beat it (a couple of sled lengths, perhaps).
Although the ZRTs make a few more horsepower than the Polaris 600s do, the Cats are quite a bit heavier.
As for the ZL ... That should be an easier race for you to win. This past winter, a friend of mine who has a Polaris 2001 XC500 (with 12,000 miles on the odometer) beat a ZR 600 EFI from bottom to top quite easily. Back when I had my 1998 XC 600, the ZRs used to top out in the mid-90s (mph) in 2000' on radar. My bone stock XC used to hit 104 mph consistently in the same distance. The ZRs had great low-end power and a wonderful front-end suspension set-up, though.

I beat a clutched 96 zrt 600 with 2 sledlenghts from bottom to top with my old 2001 500 xcsp. i have had 2 500 xcsp-01 models and especcialy one was really fast only one sled behind an clutched 800 switchback. these 500s were way faster than my current 05 600 sp. 00 600 xc sp was dynoed 119,7 hp in sweden

That kind of hp. is certainly not typical of any stock 600 xcsp of any years. My buddy dynoed many of those ves 600 motors...all around 114-116 hp max. He blueprinted his own personal 00 600 xcsp motor along with slight transfer port ht. changes exhaust polishing..gasket matching...carb work...head mod...airbox work and cdi reprograming made 122 hp. and change on his land & sea portable dyno.
