Hello,
I am thinking about making a snowmobile trip to Vermont this upcoming season. I live 20 miles south of Albany, N.y. I was wondering where is the best place in Vermont to go? Around what towns? How much is registration? Lodging? etc.. thanks.

Try Woodford It is not that far from their, Check their web site at fall time. WWW.snobusters.com or info@snobusters.com for more info
MJR
There is Woodford which is not far from Albany, generally a day trip. If your looking for really good riding take a look into Groton, St. Johnsbury, Island Pond or anywhere in the Northeast Kingdom(NEK).
For lodging there is the Comfort Inn at St. Johnsbury and Lakefront Motel in Island Pond..I've personally stayed at both places and they were great. Really, you can't go wrong riding anywhere in the NEK..Also, try googling snowmobiling in the Northeast Kingdom you should get all the info. you need.

I live in Troy, NY and it takes me exactly an hour to get to Woodford. The elevation guarantees snow even though Bennington will have nothing and kids are running around in t-shirts. The trails are great for two reasons: the first is that 95% of the trail system runs through National Fores land and the second, and perhaps more important, is that the trails are maintained by a group of incredibly dedicated volunteers. They have four groomers, and the guys that groom 3 or 4 times a week also have full time jobs!
Weekends are CRAZY, so if you can ride during the week, I would suggest it. You are guaranteed to enjoy yourself up there.

I'd be up for that, though I still need to decide where my snowmobile will live during the winter. I don't have a truck or a trailer!

I live in Wynantskill, so you could be 5 minutes away. The few times I went to Woodford this winter, I eneded up going by myself. I don't think my riding buddies are ever going sledding again.
I've had an empty spot on my trailer everytime this winter.
Your more than welcome to hitch a ride this winter.

Along with Woodford another good area to ride from is the Rutland, VT area. From Rutland you are ONLY 30 minutes from any one of 3 places to ride from, Chittenden, Shrewsbury or MT Tabor. Rutland is about 2 hours from Albany (I know this as I had relatives in the Albany area and visited often) and l don't think you'll have any problem with lodging. Plus I could show you the trails. And as always the NEK is THE place to ride in Vermont, but it can be crowded on the weekends. If you need anymore info just PM me.

There is nothing like the Kingdom, where the trails are flat and the snow is white, put on 4000 miles this winter. I also do rentals, and just finished renovating the abode. Has everything you'll need and private trail to Vast Corrider 3 and 1 just below the radar base. www.sover.net/~burnt39 available all 4 seasons.

Hands Down the Northeast Kingdom (NEK) ... Island Pond, Walden, Burke...you won't regret it. I live in Cabot and we have a very nice local Inn and Resturant...unfortunately the Walden Country Store (Home Spun) it up for sale and looks closed...HOPE it is open by snow fall because its a vital gas, bathroom, warm stop depot.
