I would be careful about cutting the heads on this engine on pump gas. Black Magic Racing make a " whoopass" kit for this sled with the spacers, reeds, clutching, timing etc. that will turn the 600 into a beast. They sell the parts seperatly also. With some fine tuning, it should have no problem with you're MXZ600.

if you bore the carbs to 39.5 it will be a gas hog. bud has stocker 99 with d and d pipes bopred carbs and he uses twice as much gas as my zrt 700, all d and d stuff except stock 36 carbs. you really need to can d and d. dale will tell you what you need to make a zrt 600 run. mine pulls like a freight train. 800,s are no problem with d and d,s set-up............HAWK!!!

I think you meant boring the carbs from the stock 36 to 37.5. 39.5 would be a bored 38mm.Call Arnies cat house and speak to him , he'll fix you up: 705 789 8734.He's a great guy to deal with and really knows cats and how to make em go.

36mm carbs can be bored to 39.2mm I bored
mine but.. they are a little thin around the mtg
horn.. jet accordingly and they show a little more
top end. Do the cylinder shim kit, cut the heads
back to stk, put in a key, clutch it.. and it will
run very well indeed!

I did not know they could be bored out that much. I had a set of 36mm on an old Kawasaki back in the 80's and the best they could do for me was 38mm. I would call Arnies, he's in Norvair, he can do the machine work to the heads, and carbs inhouse and provide you with the other parts you will need.

those older round slides all start out as the same casting so they can be bored as large as a 38 could be bored. How big of timing key are you guys running in these? If you raise the cylinders (shim kit ) you will haft to turn it 85-8600. Some times advance keys hurt the top end. Has anyone run a key in a zrt600 and how large was the key?

I have not used a key in mine.. I have the black magic kit, a set of D&D pipes and clutching. Power breather, 192 studs.. this sled is wicked fast for a 600.. It is also mint and for sale $2000.00 gets it. Kevin
