Why not leave it the hell alone and try it as is???

Ski's definately. I have Slydog's right now and they worked real well.
06NytroER
Steel Polaris skis w/ E-Z steers

Sachs 292 1-lunger engine

milk-crate hood w/ maglite flashlight headlight

1969 Harley ape-hangar handlebars

2.5 gallon Farm & Fleet gas can (for a new tank)

1971 'Cat Cheetah leopard print seat

1971 " " chassis

Ski-Roule bogie wheel "skid" w/ 2" travel

Camoplast "Big-Horn" paddle track, wouldn't wanna get bogged down in deep snow with the bogie setup, right??

We all know the Nytros are plagued with issues & poor quality, so F-IT!!! Build her over with old-school quality & style!!!!!!!

I know I probably just pissed you off, but seriously........ you have'nt even ridden the sled. Have you even ridden an FX Nytro at all?? Also, did you stop & think that you're gambling with your warranty coverage by modifying a new sled?? There is nothing wrong with the Yamaha skis once you put dual carbides on them. Thay track straight & steer fine. Nor is the Ripsaw a poor track.

The Slydog's are a nice ski and have heard all good things.
Thanks for the info Yamanator

06nytroer funny thing is, I do have a late 69/70 Arctic cat panther with the cheetah seat one of my mint collectors also are available are the Milk crate, maglite and even the official F/F fuel tank Geez what was I thinking. I firmly believe every consumer sled will need a tweak depending on your type of riding.

Anyone else got some ideas for this sled?

My theory is to always try the sled stock first and go from there. It seems if you put the carriage before the horse you might spend money on things unnecessarily. Why spend 350.00 on new skis if you like how it rides on the stock ones and so on?

Glad you found the humor in my post. I know full well what people are saying about the Nytros & their "handling" issues. '09's are supposed to be different. But, 'ya know what..... the '08's are perfectly fine too. It's just that the average joe doesn't want or feel comfortable with super agressive handling, & that's just what the '08s have. personally like I posted b4, with dually 6-10" carbides, the stock skis are just fine.

The Ripsaw track is 2nd to none IMHO. I assuming you have an Apex (username), so you know what the Ripsaw is like. Maybe you don't like it??? If I could think of ANYTHING you may not like about the sled, would be the harsh suspension. But, that concrete ride can also be set marshmellow soft too. I guess the 1st thing to change is the shitty 3.5" single carbides to 10" singles OR 6-10" duallys. Other than that, knowing what I know about my '08 RT-X, you'll have permagrin the 1st ride out.

I spent 200 on new Slydogs and sold my stock ski's for 150. And yes I do believe that regardless of how one likes their setup the stock ski's have got to go. They aren't a good ski even with changes.

Fact is, Yamaha has made such a fantastic sled it's hard to consider any changes!!!
All we are really talking about are the ski change thus far. WOW!
Thats why I posted this and I agree on all replies you guys have sent.
Thumbs up for the NYTRO again and Yamaha/Reliability Sleds.

Trail tank for sure. 10 Gals of gas is better than 7.5 any day
Gotspeed24

i would agree, any body that we ride with that has changed out their stock skis, would never go back, but most of our experience is with the c&a razors.they take a little more muscle to steer,i was wondering if the sly dogs would be better?yamanator????
