Title says it all! i was kinda leaning on the suzuki 450 because how wide it is, i will be running trails but i like to jump and run tracks mostly.

My friend has a 06 ltr450, which ive ridden ALOT. At first i hated his front suspension, but we ended up messing with it a bit and now it is aot better. Motor wise his has a cherry bomb, uni filter, and baffle removed. In a drag race he beats my 05 yfz by about 6 lengths and inches me on top end, this is with 18" tires also! The ergonomics are i would say best in class. On the track this bike is sweet, it is the fastest stock quad when it comes down to the track. In the air it stays very flat and even, how you want it. In my opinion i like it alot, maybe more than my yfz. O h yea efi is a great feature. Are yo buying Used or new? If buying used my friend has his ltr450 for sale here in New york.

I like the LTR's in some ways bet it is definately not the most powerful 450 out there. There are a lot of variables in a drag race but if you take a stock LTR and a stock YFZ and line them up on blacktop the YFZ should beat it every time. The only benefit to the LTR is the width, other then that the YFZ beats it pretty much everywhere else. If you look at all the reviews the YFZ wins overall every time. I still am not saying the LTR is bad machine, in fact if I didn't ride Yamaha I would ride Suzuki. Just my 2 cents.

I've had my 450r for over 3 years now and I've never had 1 problem with it. Lots of aftermarket parts available to tune them to how you want it.

$40 cherry bomb makes the ltr gain 7hp, 8hp gain with baffle out. Then the drag race goes to the ltr.

Thanks for your responses! Im buyng brand new for sure, what about the kawi 450's? I dont really want to affect my warrenty so what can i do and cant i do? i know a header is out of the question same with engine parts, what about a cherry bomb(ltr), bars, nerfs, stripping decals, new tires, changing sproket sizes? all that stuff. How much do you figure it is a month for a bike? say 8000 so around 250 a month for 60 months or somthing? (Canadain)

Kawi made a week attempt at making a 450, im surprised they didnt try to go over and make the best! I wouldnt buy one. Ltr you can take cherry bomb of and install it in about 1 minute so if you ever needed to bring it to the dealership pop it right off. But suzuki recommends the cherry bomb for the atv. I would buy nerf bars and handguards, to me their a necessity. Tires get some holeshots.

I agree with nytro, the Kawi's are definately not the answer. The ONLY benefit to the Kawi is reverse if you have to have it. You can do just about anything you want to the machine with the exception of motor mods and still not void the warranty, a lot of it depends on the dealer too. Some dealers are cool and could care less what you have done to the machine and will still do their best to get it warrantied.

I have the 4 year extended on mine and honda does allow for some engine work..different cams etc.. and that will not void your warranty. talk to your dealer.

how does the ds 450 x can-am stack up against the others ....performance,drivability and suspension?

Suspension is better than the normal one, probley second best in class i would say. Performance is the same as the normal Non X though.

Well The winner goes to the LTR fou fidddy! i bought it today, picking it up on friday, i asked him if i could mod it up and they didnt say no, but they dont recomend it, so i picked up some AC nerfs and he told me to wait to break it in before i add the cherry bomb and take the baffle out, throw a k&n in there to,
which is a 5-7 hp gain he said. it was 10 000 all together with the nerfs. id post a picture, but im on my sister's mac and dont know how to!

Buy the extended warranty....some of them tend to have tranny problems

the 07's did, apparently the 08's are golden, new front not as stiff shocks to.

06,07 had i beleive 3,4 and had some false nuetrals problems, and now the 08's are having 3rd gear go

betcha cant wait to let the good times roll i remember the day i picked up my 87 250r new . the hours of fun they gave were awesome.

now there is a machine I wish they still made.. kind of a rotten deal that they only got to make them for a little while.

all my buddies rode mine then 88 came outvery nice color then the 89 so we had a cool group of quads. i met these guts at a bar one nite i left my quad in the back of my van ready to go, just so happens after closing they wanted to go for a ride they asked what i was drivin so i pulled the door open they went and got vans that year looked cool driving with the slider open driving to our pit. we did a lot of night ridin back then.

night riding in the gravel pits after the bars closed use to be a popular past time of mine too. these days I'm safe and sober!!lol
