I was rebuilding my 2000 T-Cat motor and when I was assembling I noticed that there were no thermostat manifold gaskets, the ones form the heads to the manifold, included in the top end kit. In years past I have bought 2 older 650/700 kits and these were included. Assuming it was in error I contacted my dealer. They contacted Arctic Cat and were told that they were not included in the top end kit but are included on the twin kits. In the past it was well worth the expense buying the kits for the 650/700.

This kit is $149.95 Canadian so I added up the parts seperately from Brown's that came with the kit and the total is below

3 3004-081 O-RING,HEAD-OUTER $9.95 $29.85
3 3004-080 O-RING,HEAD-INNER $13.95 $41.85
1 3008-588 GASKET, CYLINDER $34.29 $34.29
3 3005-432 GASKET, REED VALVE $6.95 $20.85
3 3003-503 GASKET,EXHAUST NON-ASBESTOS $8.95 $26.85

Total $153.69

You save a big whopping $3.74 when you buy the kit. I still have to spend 3 x $7.95 for the manifold gaskets. I don't know why they are so expensive. I didn't need the exhaust gaskets, and probably not the reed gaskets either, so I would have been better off not buying the kit.

Can anybody confirm that these kits do not come with the manifold gaskets.

How does Arctic Cat expect you to do a top end without the manifold gaskets? Those are the ones that usually tear or damage during disassembly and absolutely need, I guess that's why they are so expensive for such a simple gasket. dohdoh.gif dohdoh.gif

Red permatex worked great for me.
