Hi All,

Well, the 2008 season is winding down up here in the high country. There is still good riding in the higher elevations but you now need to trailer to the Deer Mountain parking areas to access the East Inlet area and the rest of the trail system.

I don't know the trail numbers all too well - can I get to the SDR gas pumps if I go south?

If you trailer to Deer Mountain you will need to bring your own gas.

you will definitely want to bring your own gas. It works out well cause you can head out one way for a while and then fuel up and head out in the other direction. There is plenty of fun areas to ride around in in the area and this time of year you won't be riding 100 miles in one direction. Areas around youngs are completely bare. There are plenty of good trails around deer mountain/east inlet

I call bullsh!t!

I did 95 miles today in a short amount of time. We had a blast. Temps weren't too bad, and they won't be too bad tomorrow. Pay attention to the PRR website and note which trails are open at which junctions and stay on them. Park at Deer Mountain, ride 145 North to the Border, then ride down the Maine border. Cross into Maine toward Bosebuck, turn left and go toward Rangely. Turn around at the big bridge, go back to 20 West and ride till you run out of snow for real. Then keep staying to the east (on the trails listed as open). Stay off of Magalloway road. We ended up riding 10 miles of gravel because one of the guys broke a trailing arm bolt and we had to tie the arm on with an a$$load of rope - Magalloway was the least bumpy way back to the trucks even though it was bare gravel. You can get to the bowl from 112/143 if you're up to the challenge...lots of deep snow to get stuck in and lots of obstacles...not for beginners.

I could have done 200 miles today without problem. Because of the repairs and the slow speeds after the repairs we only did 95 between the hours of 9:30 and 4pm.

If you don't mind wearing out some WEAR parts (skags), and you have some balls, you can have a blast! Big puddles to play with, deep snow in spots to do mad wheelies in. Is there dirt? Yes - some long stretches of dirt. Hammer down, keep the weight off your skis, and the dirt can be fun. Both of my sleds are covered with mud and I love it. Wash and wax this weekend...

Make the trip - you won't be disappointed if you ride like me.

The snow in this pic is only indicitvite of the snow at East Inlet. There is far more snow once you get awy from the parking area.

Paid $25 to HSC and I can upload more pics! And yes, all pics I post today are from today.

I don't know... 5hrs is a long way to beat the crap out of your sled.

Come up and ride. There is snow to be ridden and good times to be had. Summer is going to be to long anyway. summer_sucks.gif
