I will make 1 or 2 trips to ride the sleds(pro x 700, indy 500) north at parents and ride the trails around home more on the beaters( sport,xcr440). Either way, I will spend less during the summer to save $$$$ for winter riding.

not one bit i snowmobile for relaxation and sport. I only spend maybe $1000 a year on fuel for sledding so whats another 25% increase, like $250. I guess i just won't buy a pipe for my sled this year. A lot of the spots on the trails that i ride already had $4 gas or more just because of the conveinance of buying on the trail.

thats good to hear people are staying strong. I can see people going on trips with more people to cut costs and trail riding doese waste alot of gas so i can see it affecting those people some. it will suck cuz to fill up will be $60 if it is 4 on the highway it will be 5 on the trail. o well there is no price on fun

FWIW The fuel cost put a squeeze on my riding, and the amount of riding I did this past season.. 2 kids 3 sleds to feed in fuel and a diesel excursion with a 44 gal tank towing a 4 place enclosed.. hit the saving fund but good.
we had record snow fall all over NE States this year but also record fuel costs.. sucks but what ya gona do
I choose wisley and already started my fuel fund for next season.. it will never get back to where we thought it was normal..
hell if you look at it gallons of anything costs they are over or close to 3 - 4 $ a gallon Milk, Coke, Pepsi

Not even if gas hits 10.00 bucks a gallon, it makes no difference to me. I go to wal-mart they have lots of free gas around, just need a long hose. Big parking lots with no cameras on the far parking areas, got to love those big SUV. Sure hold a lot of fuel on them.
O-I only get my fuel from the out of state plates.

$3.00 to $4.00 is a 33% increase. Which is less that the 200% percent increase from $1.00 to $3.00. Yeah you burn money down but the step shock is over. To quite for #33% is just wrong and let the tree huggers and friend in congress win with there implied taxes to raise the fuel to prices they have always dreamed about. Resist and kick the anit-americans out of congress, long live the Yankee!!!

No effect at all on next season. I'm actually planning on upping the motor with more ponies under the hood. Gas prices can do what ever.

you guys think the price of gas is gonna kill you for sledding this winter. wait and see what who ever it is that actually runs your country is threatening to do right now.... shut down the pipeline from fort mcmurray alberta (where i live) to the u.s. because they say our oil is dirty because of ducks landing in a tailings pond and dying. i'm sure that will put a spike in the gas prices.

Where i live the prices never even hit $4.00 a gallon yet, but almost there $3.75/gallon(87 Octane). I live 8 miles from Alpine oil rig, 22 miles from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

For me gas just hit 3.50 a gallon but that isnt going to stop me. I put on 3229 miles on this year. But I have to work hardder in the summer and plant more corn than soybeans.
P.S. Im a farmer

I am not happy, putting in the sled is bad but @ $490 a gallon to fuel my diesel truck to get there is really what sucks!!!
Ridin' again?
Jul 30 2008, 07:55 PM
I'm with you on the diesel fuel. Bought a cheap little car to make up on the fuel prices for the summer and that is helping A LOT. Went from 18 to 35 MPG avg. and saving over $1.00 a gallon on gas. I'm putting about $100 a week savings away just on gas in a $400 car. It sucks not driving my truck, but the checkbook balance sure takes some of the suck away.
