Anyone??
Just out in the garage servicing the Z1's ACT drive for summer storage. I removed the fill plug #34 in photo and oil ran out...quite a bit. Is this unusual? It seems it was over the fill plug's level. The sled is on a level garage floor.
My questions are:
1. Do I overfill like it was and do it with the sled on its side?
2. This has reverse and is 12 oz. the correct amount of oil?
3. Should I use the ACT flush?

The oil seems very clean and it has 2200 miles.

Thanks,
MC

Vince
Use plug 36 to drain, tilt sled so all the old fluid drains, I'd flush it.
12oz of fluid with reverse is correct, 3 oz for non-reverse DD, put the sled on it's side to fill the DD.
zoso
Flush it and add back 12 oz I got alot of filings out the first change at 400 miles, second change no filings.

Vince do I overfill it? When I removed #34 the "fill" plug, oil came out and not just a little. To overfill I would have to fill it with the sled on its side and put the #34 plug back on before I brought the sled back upright?.
It does not make sense.

Other than that the sled survived very well. No problems, not even any wheel bearings.

I've never done a reverse fluid change but I do know it's twelve oz. for sure.

Maybe your DD was overfilled when it was manufactured.

I think your making the right move to just flush and refill... i was going to split my cases but then the small engine tech in me came out and said that this cheap built small engine shit isn't designed to to be tore down and put back together very many times.. little tiny bolts in cheap aluminium is a bad combo.. you better flush it because you just know they didn't come up with that idea for the heck of it.. they don't want us splitting the cases and they don't want us just draining and refilling.. they want us to drain, flush and refill.

hey vince, didn't you blow your dd on your 900?? what happened

I took out the splines on the driveshaft and the splines on the DD shaft were pretty well toasted too.
