Labounty?? in Two harbors is always hiring cnc operators and welders.
I know a few people that work there and they really like it.
Not much for cnc operators here in Duluth.

I work for Genesis in Superior. We have a few Viper machines,Dawoo, Collets and manual lathes and are always looking for good machinests. Im a welder there but could point ya in the right direction to get an interview. I think the machinest top pay is in the 21.17 hr. area with another 65 cents for midnight shifts. E-mail me at firered834@hotmail.com if your intrested.
Hope that helps!
Also, as much overtime and you want usually.

If you move to Duluth, the Central Hillside area is the place you want to be.

I'd recommend finding a place somewhere east of the hospitals, at least out of the downtown area. Prefer around 15th A.E. and eastward. West Duluth/West End is getting too many hooligans, and so is the Hillside/downtown district, at least around 4th street and below (towards the lake). The further up the hill the better, and east towards the colleges have less riff-raff hanging. Pick up a newspaper and see what is around, or online here:

Craigslist.org has a ton of listings in the area. Cloquet is also a nice place to live, it's only about 10 minutes west on the freeway.

You can always move over to the superior side as well. I grew up there, now stationed up in Grandforks ND. Love North dakota way better thou.

Superior is a lot cheaper to rent/buy but the city is a cess pool so it's kind of a trade off.
One other possibility is Cirus (airplanes). They post job listings on their web site.
Good luck on your search.
I live in Hermantown but Duluth is a 'cool' place to live.

Isn't starting pay at Cirrus only $9/hour? I worked there 2 1/2 years, started at 9, finished at 14.30 but I was there in the early days and advanced quick. I hated that place - all the chemicals and glass dust are too much for me... not to mention all the idiots that work there, they take anyone off the street.
