Is anyone out there running one of these and do you like it? Or do you have a different suggestion for a bigbore kit for an 04 800

If I was to get a bigbore for the mountains, I'd look into the CarsCycle 910
Anger890
Carl's 910 or Engine Tech 900 for the 800.

On the trail maybe but hell anyone can go fast down a trial step off and try the deep shit for once.

I have never run one but a guy I used to work with had one and he had alot of problems detonating pistons it had to be run PIG rich to keep it together, he never did figure it out

I have the XCR 800 engine in my mountain sled. I have found it is easier to ride, has more power than a twin and is easier to jet and clutch for varying elevations. I like it so much I am installing my XCR engine in a IQR.

I think if the triples were as bad ass as everyone says the stocks sleds would still be running them. Or are they too fast?

Triples are not as prevelant as they used to because the marketing/warranty departments have been pushing twins. Never mind that an XCR 800 makes more HP/TQ than a 800 twin at every RPM point that matters. I think triples are not as around currently as the factories like the simplicity of twins. It allowed them to go backwards with HP, reduce liability/warranty costs due to people who hopped up a seld and then installed factory pipes when they burned it down on the triples.

Its a cyclical thing in sled engines, triples in the 80's and early 90's twins from the late 90's to current day. I still hear rumors of triple engines running around Roseau. They will be back as you can only reliably get so much power out of a 800 twin before you need the increased piston area and ports to make the power a triple is easily capable of. I would be at the Polaris dealership tommorow if they had a 800-1000cc CFI triple in a production sled.

As far as big bore twins, Carl's Cycles 910 is sure to please, although it does require a race gas mix. Engine Techs 900 kit can be run on pump gas with a single pipe and sure is a runner. Either way you will be happy with those two companies, both have invested a lot of time and effort into their big bore kits to ensure you get a reliable/fun package. Stay away from PSI/Hotseat.

Yes, the triples are fast, real, real fast.

Back in the 90's the top dog triples were heavy, no discussion. Then all got hyped up on the new "lightweight" twins. Most of that weight difference were in the chassises, the triples being put in "lead" lake racer chassises like the Aggressive, Doo F2000 and CK3 etc.

As for the engines only, a Yamaha single pipe triple weighs the same as the polaris 700 twin. And the XCR mill 10-15lbs heavier.

Remember a big twin has to have a beefier crank and cases to stay together. Wondering how much the Cat F10 and Doo 1000 twins weighs compared to say a xcr mill...?

after looking at the cutaway of the cat 1000 twin I would guess that the xcr motor would be lighter but thats just a guess

No it won't. A fuel injected triple will prbaly only weigh 10-15 lbs more than a comparable twin and will outperform them. It will also be more reliable and have greater power potential than a twin. Its very simple, triples have more port area and will produce more power than a twin.
