Precipitation
We have experienced the warmest weather since November all across Southern Manitoba. Conditions have been dry, mild, and also windy at times. Almost all the remaining snowbanks have vanished, it is just the larger snowhills that look more like gravel piles that remain. The remainder of this week should remain mild and mostly sunny. You can expect highs from 10 to 15 degrees, and by the weekend 20 degree weather will likely return. Although this warm weather will become a double-edged sword. The warm Southerly flow ahead of a strong low pressure system will draw up this warmer weather. Then by early next week this low will emerge from the mountains and spread, rain, snow, and mixed precipitation all across the Prairies. I mentioned this system in my previous outlook. It still looks like Western Saskatchewan and Eastern Alberta could see 30cm of snow early that week. The storm that will affect that region will park itself there from Sunday until Tuesday evening. This could potentially lead to snow accumulations of 60 to 80cm. The would be over three days, but that it a lot of snow! Manitoba's precipitation will start off as rain, then change to mostly snow. In the Interlake region snowfall totals of 40 to 50cm is possible. In Western Manitoba 30 to 40cm is possible. In Eastern Manitoba the snow totals will depend on when the colder air moves in. It could be an all rain event, or Eastern Manitoba could also see 30cm of snow. The timing and temperatures in this storm will play a huge factor, and remember because this is still a week away and things could change drastically!

Well as with any weather forecast, I take it with a shaker of salt...but this is exactly why I don't summerize the sled until the middle of May.

Boys, forget about the sleds, we just need some form of moisture for the crop lands and the pastures or there's gonna be a lot of farmers in a bad hurt this year.

Tell me about it... our back yard is soaking wet, I hope it dries up before the Bobcat comes to level out our yard for the new garage/man cave.

That would be great. Went out on may 11 after a spring storm, 4-5 years ago or more. It was fun.
