I was wondering if you could send me or post a picture of your Crank oilier (primer set up)set up that have been mentioned in a few posts for the 08 600 IQR. I am aware of the race bulletin but want to see what folks have out there and may be using. Also I am looking at running 91 octane in the sled, what setting would you put the timing on? and do you think 91 oct. is ok?? That’s about as high of octane the gas stations run around here. I am at an elevation of 0-2000 ft on average. and temps are about 20 to -20. I picked up an IQ R 600 up this weekend. Is there anything I should look for problems/concerns? Also could I go with the 600RR gearing and keep the helix in it and spring in the Driven Clutch?? And be ok? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks droop99

well for XC we need to run some differnet clutching, the engagment is way high and will be hard on the sled for hte time peroids we are out there. as for fuel you should be ok on 91. i may run a 50/50 race prem mix next year to get more HP out of mine but running there for racing id say run the timing on F or E deppending on course. the one we are holding WOT for long time F probably. im also new with this motor so any insite would be great guys.

Weve just hooked up a small hose and filled a surenge with a few cc's. As for gas we have ran all race gas, mix, and 91 with no problems just make sure you are jetted correct. E setting for pump gas. For clutching the 600rr setup is less aggressive. I would stay with the stock clutching a maybe go with the 600rr gearing for a little more top speed.

Here are a few of how I set up all our '08's. This can work on any year sled that doesn't have oil injection.

They say 10cc's will last you all race weekend. I've been using around 15cc's once you factor in the length of the hose your using. For Trail riding I've been injecting every morning for I head out. You wanna use Polaris Synthetic.

I use less than the recommended. I use 5 ml per tank full of fuel. I give a little squirt every time i add fuel. I have a tiny plug in the tip of the tubing so none drains down after I inject...this isn't really necessary. If you add 10ml half will go directly into the case and the other half will drain down in the next 20 minutes of running the motor.
I use Polaris Racing Synthetic but whichever oil you use to mix in your fuel will be just fine.
I doubt thats the reason your motor burned down Time. I know a kid I saw in arctic man last week and he has never even installed the tubing or injected his motor and he has over 1500 miles on it. HE said he never looked at the tips page even one time.....Not Good.

ok well may not but it still went boom, dam you Laport gas station, haha. has anyone drilled another hole in the case like the 04 440 accept on the othr side to get more oil down in the case tom?

I doubt it. The oil injection with a syringe option works pretty good. That second hole under the Cyl was never a Polaris recommended fix. They didn't not recommend it, they just told us '04 owners that the 440motors were only built to last 60 hours. 60 hours isn't long especially if you sell the thing to a kid you will likely see the next riding season. I like to sell stuff to people and have them still happy in a years time.

Not positive.
Will likely be doing a few 800 conversions this summer so we will find out for sure then when we pull the Stock Cylinders.

If there isnt any holes in the case why do you have to refill the case then? If its closed the oil cant escape and be burned in the motor, right? So it must be some hole in the case like usaul but I think its like the 04 440 so something like that case mod would be great on this motor. Just my thoughts do, I dont have any facts on it. Picking up my 08 racer in a couple of weeks so after that I will know..

i think the polaris riders in finland use the same pipes as in the h.o engine and they seem to work fine ?

If you are asking about the '07 Factory Mod pipes I think you could get by using these pipes. I have never seen the '08 Factory Mod pipes in person but I saw a picture of a sled with them on and they looked similar to the '07 pipes. There were differences between the '07 & '08 pipes but they didn't appear to be huge. Keep in mind, many of the top teams were not able to get max HP out of their '08 Factory Mod motors. Many of the teams used their proven 600HO based motors. I'm sure by the end of the season most teams were using their '08 motors but initially they didn't perform quite as expected. The longer stroke may have been part of the problem.
The exhaust flanges on the cylinders are different between the '08 600r and the 600HO but everything else is close enough for the '06 or '07 pipes to work on the '08 motor.

I don't know much about pipes but what I do know is if you change the stroke (08 crank longer than HO crank) you need to adjust the pipes cone to fit that motor's pulse or you won't get peak efficiency. I'd say run pipes built for your motor, or the gains might not be worth it.

What is the 5/16 hose on the motor that is plugged.
