I hit that washout on the bike Saturday morning... I saw it and had enough time to get to the side that had the smallest gap. Not fun doing evasive maneuvers in a bike in the snow.

That is great that you were able to swerve to miss it. If it happened Sat Morning with Sunny Skies good visibilty maybe it could have been avoided although I probably would have been going Faster. Well no broken bones so lets just fix the sled and it is a lesson learned.

That most likely was my son and I. I was riding a 99 xcr800 and my son was 95 indy 500 I was up with crowfoot50 for one last ride and picking up his sleds. I was not expecting being in the ER at 2.00 am saturday morning by all in all It could have been worse.
We put about 45 miles on saturday am Really thought there would be a few more sleds out.. We where getting thelooks from the wheelers LOL...

Nobody has mentioned the money that the Sno Pals made.. I'm pretty sure that they will put it into maintaining & grooming the trails next year.. How many of the people that are on here whining, would have actually went on the hill & ridden their sleds, anyway? I was told that there were over 1400 people that registered to ride in the snirt run.. times $10 each.. that will buy a lot of fuel to run the groomer next year... So stop whining, grow a set, get the 4wheelers out, and go ride...

I rode the snrit ride went 75 miles on wheeler from Turin to Barns Corners, rode all trails and only saw snow for 30 plus or minnus out of the 75 if that is what you like to ride your sled on go sleding dude. Their was a few sleds out that day, one witch hit a washout in the trail that put him in the ER and bent the trailing arm on his sled. face it sleding season is done.

You may have got your wish... With the DEC shutting down the truck trails to ATV use it could be the end of ATVs altogether on Tug Hill and anywhere else in NY for that matter.
When you go to your favorite trailside stops next year and they are closed because they couldn't make it through the rest of the year without the ATV traffic you can thank the DEC and State of New York.

Thanks PolarisIQ600 for sticking up for us. Yeah I rode in mid April and paid the price by getting hurt and ending up in the ER. But if I could change one thing maybe and I say maybe I should have waited for The sun to come up on Saturday to ride because it would give me alot better visibility. The trails are obviously different when everything starts melting and the clubs stop grooming. I love riding in my Motocross helmet and a t-shirt. If you have never done it I suggest you give it a try. The leg is getting better slowly as the nerve is healing itself. The local DR has given me a prescription to help the healing process. I also think it was good decision to not take my 700 out so as not to have the temptation to ripp down the trails at night in Spring conditions. At the time of the accident I was just cruising along on the 500 and the next thing I knew I was rolling down the trails. I just goes to show you can never be to carefull. As for Jackstraw I Know what he wants to say. "THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN IN CANADA" . Yeah Yeah I will stay on the Hill. I will say this that was one big f@$%&king hole.

Down here at the Jersey shore we call them Shoobies... Short for Shoe Boxers, a term that was used for the people that came down from Philly on the train in the 1930s bringing their lunch in shoeboxes so they would not have to spend any money here... just use the resources and don't contribute to the community.
