Im going to get some drag slicks for my car. I wanna know if I should even bother trying to run them on the street, or just save em for the track. Do ya think the cops are even looking for something like this.

I've been pulled over for my excessively worn ( Race) tire on my bike so they are watching. Now if you go somewhere with light traffic it would be no problem, head down for the Sunday cruse with them on Portage and I'm sure you would have a much better chance of getting noticed.
wildoat
get a set of ET Streets

Slicks get flats very easy on the street. They also roll over onto the sidewalls very easy.

If you get pulled over they will probably give you a ticket, if they pull up and you're parked I don't think they can do anything, in which case have a set of DOT approved tired on different rims and have someone who's willing to take them to you. Oh, good luck getting home if it starts raining BTW.

Not likly worth the trouble on the street. I had a cop measure tread depth before on my car. They were getting desperate to issue a ticket of some sort.

I had a set of BFG drag radials that i used on my daily driver. Never once even had a cop try to hassle me, even when the tread pattern was gone.

How much cops bug you has to do with how your car looks and sounds, ie: slicks, car stance, loudness of exhaust, etc. I saw a guy on Portage driving a Camaro with a roll bar on the back, he had a cop following him everywhere he went.

A roll bar goes INSIDE the car. You must be referring to a wheelie bar.

If you've ever been caught in the rain on a slick or even cheater slick, you wouldn't be asking this question. If you only drive the car on nice days, get the ET Streets like Wildoat suggested.

Because this is a public forum, you are correct.

I ran a pair of Hoosiers on the street on my T-Type Regal, and they were dangerous as hell. They have a sidewall similar to a slick (no sidewall strength). A guy cut me off and I had to make a fast lane change. Damn near rolled when the tire folded over.

Slicks require heating up to work properly, so unless you are going to do burnouts on the street (attracts lots of unwanted attention), they won't work great.
