Well, many of you have had the chance to run the new Polaris 800. I am wondering what your thoughts are on the power of this sled vs the new Xfire R 800 from Cat.
I haven't owned a new Polaris for quite some time and havent seen much reason to till now. Cat has treated me well but I want to spring for a new sled this year and want to take a stab at the local snow drag scene. Cats 07 800 had mapping issues. Do you guys feel that that has been corrected in the 08's? Has anyone rode the 09?
I want to play with a new sled and hopefully be competitive in the 800 and up stock classes.
Polaris has caused me to step back after the DTR dyno report of 145 and then Cat pissed me off by not having a Xfire R at the show.

im looking at a new sled this year, and the only sleds that caught my eye are the xfire r and the dragon 800. if everything happens right this summer, i think im going to get a xfire r 800 and out a 1.5 under it

Heard from a reliable source that Ronds Marine ran a Dragon 8 against a XFR8 from Transcona Trailer sales all the Dragon saw was snow flap.

I was told from the transcona people that it was an 08 F8. They havent had the xfire r up here.
Maybe I am wrong but thats what I heard.
Snopro, I am torn between the two also. I think the Dragon will have the ride quality over the xfire r but I am concerned about the performance after seeing the 145 hp number from DTR.
No one else road the 800 IQ in Manitoba??

We ran it with an 08 Dragon and an 06 900 and they were all close, but it was above zero and raining. Handling and suspension is definitely what sets this sled apart.

I heard from an even more reliable source that the race never even happened. Sorry dude, but my buddy works as a mechanic at Ronds. Also I know the parts guy and sales guy.

Now you're really trying to confuse all us Ski-Doo folks... What's a key? Why would someone be turning it? Pop in the tether and hit the go button...

Question for you cat guys, I am not kiddin on this. How can a 08 crossfire 800 that couldn't beat much, be a screamer in 09 with the same motor? What did they change to make more power? I have raced my fair share of F8 08 and they weren't very impresive, we were pretty much Identical, and my sled just runs ok not a screamer by any means. I get my ass handed to me dy a lot of other stock sleds.

I've never seen a fast F-8 sorry, they were slow. My F-7 would whoop there ass with ease. My buds 07 is a turd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!96mph thats it, it hits a wall. I think the diamiond drive has something to do with it. I worked on my drive lots to get the power thru it. 10.4 conversion, clutch kits, delixes, rollers, and it still would not run consistent. the heat would fuk with it bad.

Thats why I am woundering why cat thinks the 09 are so much faster. The last 3 years for cat haven't been that good for speed.

Maybe they got it right? I can't tell you man. The F-7 was a rocketship thats for sure, as long as I could keep it together. LOL My bud is way pissed at his 07 800. the thing literally fell apart in the first weekend. Felt bad for him man, he had to get really drunk, just to live with himself. LOL

The new 121" Xfire will have a 14 X 121 track I think they bumped the hp a little most cat guys are hoping it will be the return of the Firecat if the chassis can put the power to the snow it just might be.
Oh Canada

My 07 F8 ran well. Lots didn't though.
Transcona and Ronds ran a 08 F8 against the IQ 800 this past spring.

One thing i heard was cat has changed there oil pumps in the 09 to use 25% less oil and meet emmission standards. This past spring we took my buddies 08 renegade 800r out to St.Martin when they were demoing that new 09 IQ 800. The XP beat it in a drag race 30 mph start and topend. The Polaris had alot of power but just didn't compare to the XP.

I don't really care about drag racing but I would take a Polaris 800 over that cat for sure. I'd love to ride one of the 800 dragons.
