To start, I know there are roughly 4-5 brands: Polaris, Arctic Cat, Sea-Doo, Yamaha, and Kawi.

Polaris and Cat don't make them anymore. I'd maybe still consider a Polaris?


I'm looking to get something that will be around $2000, I'd like a TRUE two seater (3 would be better).

What brand/models should I look for? I know hull designs change over the years and some are better then others. Looking for input on what to look for in a PWC and sugguestions on what brand/model to look for that would be good and in my price range.

I have a 2002 FX140 and a 2002 GTX DI and we spend more time on them than the boat. Old 2 seaters are pretty unstable with 2 decent size people on board but if your rarely going to have people on with you would be more fun that the 3 seater. Where my kids are young I'd have bought an Sea Doo RX or Yamaha GP if NH didn't have some odd PWC laws that make it better to own a 3 seater.

For that price I'd guess your looking at late 90's machines, go to PWCtoday.com and they have good forums to ask questions in about good and bad years.

I have a nice SPX 800 Sea Doo that I'm selling for $2400 with the trailer.

I would most def. stick with the 3 ups. Much more stable and they ride much better in the choppy water.
In my experience, the Seadoo's and Yamaha's are by far the better machines. Stay far away from the Cats.
Try the site L700 mentioned. Lots of good stuff over there.
