I'm looking at buying a used Artic Cat t660 (non turbo) are these reliable machines or should I stay away from them, its a 2006 model I believe.

I have an 04 and an 06 T660 and they are by far the best sleds I have ever owned.

I have heard the non turbo sleds max out about 70mph but you will get insane fuel mileage and virtually maintenance free.

Just make sure the valves had an adjustment done at 3,000 miles and you shood be good.

Extremely reliable and yes, buy one. I have a 2002 4Stroke touring...well just sold it and ordering a 2009 Z1 LXR. The 02 is not fast (62 on speedo with wife and I, about 275 lbs. total) but has decent acceleration to 40 mph and has tons of torque. Mine is the first year for the four stroke Cat. I know Cat change the intake manifold for 2003 and got an extra 10 HP or so. Only downside is the high center of gravity/weight. However, you will get used to it (requires more body english in turns). Picked with the 136, I added 6" carbides, shortened the limiter straps and took lessened the pre-load on the front shocks and it steers OK (this sled has the blown molded skis...throw them out and get better trail ski). Also, I'm sure that the trail sled with 121 will turn better.

Good luck

Thanks for the responses, I get a little nervous with some of the problems listed here from over heating, burning smells, engine issues, etc. I snowmobile with these guys that have the 4 stroke Artic Cat snowmobiles and other brands and I get envious of the gas mileage they get, gas mileage is important especially with the price hovering around $1.10 a litre and it is sure to get more expensive by next year. More then anything this year the price of gas has impacted the number of miles that I put on my Polaris this year even though this was the best snow year in years.
