You should use the 99 1000 can not the 800 can. The 800 can will restrict the exhaust on the 1000. If you don't have the right parts, I have everything. I'm right here in Maine. Good Luck.

The 98 can will fit in the 99 chassis, but the mounting holes/brackets don't align. Also, like you stated, you will have to cut out holes for the 3 exhaust pipes. Make sure you put some coil stock around the holes you make in the belly pan to help keep out snow dust. You should also weld a piece of steel to the exhaust pipes to help keep the can up high and in the correct position. I don't think that 99 pipes will go into a 98 can so you may have to do some cutting and fitting on the stingers too. DON'T use the 800 or the 900 can.

You may be farher ahead to use the stock 99 1000 can or an aftermarket can. I am using a 98 1000 can in my 2000 chassis because that is what my Ron Hunyady triple big bore runs better with.

I was'nt aware that the 100 can was better flowing. On the early Tcat's and Zrt's the 800/900 pipes and muffler were the same part number. I know Dynotech got almost 200hp on a big bore zrt 800 with the stock can . Is the larger, newer style 1000 can better flowing? I'm thinking of making a can for my Rpc pipes in the next year, I'm going to get a noise tisket for sure with them, as much as I love the sound!

Yes you are correct, there is no way that a 99 pipe will go into a 98 can, I am not sure if the 98 pipes will fit in the 99 chassis.
The 1000 can is different from the 800 can on 99 and newer models.
The 1995 to 1998 pipes load into the top of the can, the 99 and newer load in to the top front as you can see in the pictures

If the 98 pipes fit,
I have a set of triple aftermarket pipes with silenced ends that you won't need a exhaust can hanging of the rafters of my garage from a 98 Thundercat 1000
