Was out riding yesterday here in Canaan VT, Beautiful riding still. My fathers 06 apex er just died and wont start. I was riding it. The engine started to cut out then it spit and sputtered then quit. Havent been able to get it to start. I have checked all the fuses and ordered replacement relays. I dont hear the fuel pump or the relays clicking when i turn the key. hope its just a relay and not the pump.

Any ideas where else to look and check in the mean time?

If you can hear the fuel pump pressure up when you turn the key on it's not the relay. If there's no "whine" then try switching it out with the headlight relay, right next to it.
Another likely problem is the TPS. The sensor will have a loose connection, or go bad, and activate the TORS, causing it to idle down and die. Should be under warranty if your dad bought the extended service.

So you could ust the headlight relay just to get it home then?

Yes, and I have. My fuel pump relay started acting up on me and I switched it with the headlight relay. The sled fired right up and about 5 sec. later the headlights came on. I went to the dealer and they gave me a new relay under warranty. I switched it out with the one giving me fits and kept it as an emergency spare.

Also, for anyone who's not sure about these, they are located right above the left foothold. The fuel pump and headlight relays are the two closest to the tunnel (not sure which was which), but I believe they are the only two alike of the bunch.

I just bought an extra fuel relay "just in case". They are about $9.00. My fuel relay was the one closest to the tunnel but I think they do vary.
