I was thinking of heading to that area this summer and was wondering how the trail riding in that area was. Also we have 2 small kids that we will have with us, does Wis. have any rules against Passengers on atv's. I looked in the regulation book and saw nothing against it besides the helmets which we use all the time anyway. Thanks

Passengers are welcome as long as they have a helmet.
If you bring your kids, I would avoid a weekend.....some crazy riders on the trails come Sat/Sun (including me).
The Arrowhead lodge is a nice place to stay. Located right off of I-94 in BRF and has trail access.
BRF to Millston and back with kids is a fun day of riding. BRF to Hatfield to Rock Dam lake and back is a full day of riding (sport rider pace).
There is gas in Millston, gas in Hatfield, Gas @ Rock Dam Lake.

This place looks like a blast, is it always busy or can you go there almost anytime?

Trails open back up May 15th and is usually calm during the week....come Friday night, Sat, Sun morning....it can be very busy but not bad if you do not mind other riders on the trails. A lot of people that stay in BRF usually head North for their ride...while we head South. The best/fastest trail in BRF is between BRF and Millston on the WEST side of I-94. It is a wild trial through the woods and very fast pace if you want to do that. I have been riding those trails since 1985. I have seen a lot of changes as well but only because the sport has increased many fold.
here are a few pictures of the trails

here is a picture of the parking area at Arrowhead lodge on a busy weekend..they jam them in..

I have ridden these trails alot. Great trails, BUT If I had children I would avoid BRF. At least weekends for sure. Alot of racer wannabes(myself included, 3 years ago anyway). You may want to consider Clark county trails, which are just north of BRF, and join up with BRF. We have been riding anywhere around Fairchild, Rock Dam, Neilsville, Osseo when coming up in this part of the state and wanting to avoid the big crowds.
BRF to Millston, BRF to Lake Arbutus(Hatfield IIRC), BRF to Pray, all tend to be busy with sportier drivers. Not that Im picking on those guys, just saying If it were me with my kids.

I have stayed in the arrowhead lodge before and it is a very nice place and I seen many quads, that is what gave me the idea to stay there. I am open to suggestions that are very nice and less crowded for the family type riding. North is a good spot then by nielsville? any other fun spots to hit that are less crowded. I have never been anyplace ATVing before and would like to stay in this part of the state since it is only like 3 hrs. from home, wife just bought herself a new Rancher 420ES and we are ready for a great place to hit this summer. Thanks

look up clark county find the atv stuff, right by neilsville trails get to be on alot of roads, but once you get a couple miles out of town they get nice. There is a nice newer campground in Fairchild." Briar" something or other. No motels in fairchild that i know of.

If you want to camp, Snyder park west of Neillsville by Cth B is the nice place to stay. Another nice campground is Rock Dam. The trails do go into Neillsville and right up to the super 8 but like was said it is mostly routes from the Snyder park area to into Neillsville. Also Clark County trails have "extreme use areas" to play in.
Here is a link to the Jackson/Clark atv map.If you have any questions let me know.
