A good trail system takes time and people to make it happen . We have had really good people involved in our club for the last 39 years and had fun as a club but all good things must come to an end . There is a Very good chance that we as a club are calling it quits and will probably merge into another club . For some reason people seem to think if they dont help someone else will , well that just dont happen anymore . I appreciate the good things that people have said about how we keep up on the trails during the winter and I have had alot of fun grooming . I am really at a loss as to why some can drop $30 at a bar and not join a club for $30 a year . I am sure you will remember this thread if you ride thru North Branch next year . Yes I am pissed that people dont care and after almost 40 years it has come to this . For those that dont belong to a club where you live or where you ride , What are you waiting for ?

It is tuff to get new members into a club, and keep the ones that are in there. Then to ask them if they can volunteer more time to help with the trails... Seems everyone has so much on their plate these days, and it would be nice to spread the workload around. I've been involved in other kinds of groups as a volunteer, too, and it is very typical that the same handful of people does 90% of the work while others either complain about it or do all kinds of things to undermine the club's direction they think is wrong. Areas in our town have clubs that want to merge with ours, but that might make things worse, because the major work will need to be spread out even further, with more liability, too. Some guys want to help, but don't want the political BS to deal with. Lots of reasons, and excuses...

Because I have enjoyed them in the recent past, I want to help keep up the quality of trails, and possibly improve them, so I try to help. Not trying to hold it over those who decide it is not for them, though. Some folks aren't really aware of all it takes, and some get burnt out due to the extra amount they take on. In trying to find a happy medium, I hope your club can find a way to maintain. Money only does so much, it takes a lot of effort to do the job right. I've never ridden your area, but it sounds like you guys have done what it takes to keep it up, and I thank you.

What are you complaining about? Now this gives you more time to ride next year. Seriously I believe that your passion for the trails will be missed. I never even made it to the club that I belong to this year. Plus I only rode in this state twice this year.

Sad to hear that the Sno-Drifters may be done. I lived in North Branch for 18 months in 2001-2002. I was a member of the club for the short time I lived there. Had a good time participating in the activities. I still have a sweatshirt with the club logo I purchased back then. What club are you folks thinking of merging with? Without clubs and PEOPLE being involved in the operation, we won't have a trail system to ride. I am now a very active member of the Wood City Riders here in Cloquet. As skidont said, PLEASE join a club where you live or where you ride. Our trails don't just magically appear for us to ride on and enjoy. Do whatever you can to give back.
