I just got off the phone with the dealership and I was having them check on an issue about one of the FST's not disengaging the reverse gear when it's first started up. When I first start it up and back it off the trailer, I have to wait about 2 minutes or so till I can shift out of reverse, if I do it too soon, then I get gear scratching and check engine light.

The dealership called and said that there was a problem with the clutch system and it should be replaced. Luckily I paid for the extra warranty since I’m expired on the original one.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

Thanks!!

When the '06 FST Classics first came out there were several updates related to the reverse. There was an improved hub & pinion(and shift fork as required), chaincase cover shims, an ECU re-flash related to the reverse as well as the H-bridge controller had to be changed on some, but not all '06 Classics. Your dealer should confirm that all these updates have been done.

I had a problem similar with mine, the reverse didn't work well in or out, and the check engine light flashed. Of course i expected the worst, but the problem was that the belt was too tight. i took it to the dealer and he checked everything out, adjusted the belt tension, and it worked fine.

I was told that the clutch was replaced under warrany. I will ask them to check these things as well...

Just wanted to let you all know that Polaris extended warranty finally stepped up to the plate thanks to my dealership. All I had to do was to give up my spare drive belt. All other issues were resolved and at no charge...Now, just enjoying the seasons till the snow flies.....
