=LAME!
ha ha! Yeah probably so. I'll admit it after I just looked at some webcams up north. Looks good up there today.
Just for you Gil to see upgrades your new to be 2009 doo is getting:
2009 Model Updates
March 28, 2008
Our engineers have been working all winter to address issues we had with 2008 Ski-Doo snowmobiles, as well as further dialing-in calibrations for the 2009 models. We wanted to share with you some of the major changes we have so far:
SC-5 Rear Suspension Calibration
The ’08 SC-5 rear arm was a linear-rate design. So to resist bottoming in the largest “G” bumps, we had to calibrate the shocks and motion ratio quite stiff. Many riders complained that this ride was too harsh.
For 2009, we’re changing the rear arm to a more rising-rate design. The ride will be more compliant in ripples and as the bumps get bigger, the suspension and shocks will work harder. Of course, the rear shock is recalibrated to match the new motion ratio. There’s no trade-off of capability for this improved ride.
Applicable to: All 2009 MX Z X, Renegade X, TNT and Renegade models
Seat Foam
All REV-XP and REV-XR-based models will use a new Super High Density foam for 2009. This foam, similar to the material on the 2008 MX Z Adrenaline sleds, could almost be considered rising-rate – it is softer initially and resists bottoming. Seats are a very important part of ride quality, and this new seat will certainly improve the comfort for all trail riders.
Applicable to: All 2009 REV-XP and REV-XR MX Z, GSX and GTX models
Rotax 1200 4-TEC engine calibration
Two changes here that were NOT reflected in the prototypes that were on the Ride Says it All tour vehicles.
We’ve reduced the feel of 4-stroke engine braking by enabling a small amount of air to bypass the butterfly when you let off the throttle.
And we’ve continued to refine the distinctive performance sound of this engine. There will actually be two exhaust notes – a more performance sound for MX Z sleds, and a bit more refined sound for GSX and GTX models.
Applicable to: All models with 1200 4-TEC engine
Hydroformed Driveshafts
Working with our supplier, the welding and machining process is changed. In terms of quality control, the steel used in creating the axle will be more closely scrutinized and 100% of all shafts will be inspected before leaving the supplier’s factory. This will ensure this key component's reliability going forward.
Applicable to: All REV-XP and REV-XR models
Summit Belts
A new belt was developed especially for the demands of mountain riding. This new belt (part number 417300377) is 4mm shorter and 1mm wider for a better fit in the pulleys and more adjustability for deflection as it wears. And its sophisticated compound resists heat de-lamination and cord pull-out to ensure its longevity.
Summit Clutches
There are also many changes to Summit REV-XP clutches for more consistent RPM and reduced belt temperatures in mountain riding [especially due to better clutch/engine alignment]:
New ramps and spring for the TRA primary
New reverse dual angle cam for the QRS secondary
New roller bushings and sliding sheave bushing
Reduced overall gearing on models with 146-inch track
Handwarmers
To solve this unfortunate issue, we have changed to a more reliable supplier, and these warmers will be standard on all 2009 REV-X models.
Of course, we are still testing and refining the 2009 models and we’ll keep you updated on the changes so you can communicate them to your customers.
Regards,
The Ski-Doo Team
