THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF SIX TO TEN INCHES IN AN AREA ENCOMPASSING WAHPETON...FERGUS FALLS...DETROIT LAKES...PARK RAPIDS... AND BEMIDJI TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE OUT OF THE ROCKIES INTO SOUTH DAKOTA AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA...AND THEN INTO LAKE SUPERIOR BY SUNDAY NIGHT. IN ADDITION TO THE SNOWFALL POTENTIAL...WINDS OVER 25 MPH ARE ANTICIPATED...ESPECIALLY ON SUNDAY...WHICH MAY CREATE ADDITIONAL TRAVEL HAZARDS. SOME AREAS IN THE SOUTHERN VALLEY AND LAKES COUNTRY IN MINNESOTA MAY START WITH RAIN BEFORE CHANGING TO ALL SNOW BY SUNDAY MORNING.

Damn, I should've brought my sled with me this weekend, it's down by the cities, arghhhh !!!!!
Shane_98c
2.5-3" in Finland as of midnight. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I was looking to start playing paintball... Might as well take one last ride on the sled! We should have been nailed back in February like this...
Jackpine
ten (10) TEN X! inches in northern MN.
Minnesota Flats
The 2-5 inches forecast for Brainerd area, once again missed the mark. So far more like 0.002-0.005 in. Barely visible on the ground. We need a lot of precip to bring the lakes back to normal level.
snopro734
8-10 in the Virginia area.... poast a pic in a couple.
IanG
Damn.

If this was in January or February, this would be AWESOME.

Now I am playing baseball, in a t-shirt, and at school. trau14.gif

Looks to honestly be over 1 foot right now. Still coming down hard.

Sometimes mother nature plays cruel jokes on people and makes April the snowiest month of the year.

ONLY reason i'm gonna give it a shot...I'm sure i'll be fine, I got new tires on it. Cut the snow pretty well when we got any during the winter. I'll just call you if I get stuck.
JwEagle
Why couldn't this snow come in December or any other month. We have 11 inches in Grand Rapids and its still coming down good

farmereddie
Holy Hanna.....That sure look's tempting ...........hmmmm ! That looks great up there , one of my fav places to ride from. Anyone gonna call in sick with the monday flu..........More snow drops in one day than the three other months combined. Enjoy !!!!! Thanks for the pic Jw Eagle ........Damn.....,take it easy................later
slug1994
The question is: Why aren't you out riding in a foot of fresh snow. I know if we had that on the shore I'd be out. Crossing my fingers that it gets
Jackpine
I just plowed and I am NOT going riding in this stuff. It is too warm out and the snow is very heavy. 40 degrees for tomorrow I read. This will make for a very muddy spring.
sledzeppelin
10-12 in Embarrass with lots of drifting. There's a pile probably 3 feet high on the roof on one side of our barn. The snow on the deck is past my knees, and I'm 6'5". It's still coming down and it looks like they're saying 2-6 more today. This is disgusting. I waited for snow all winter and now that I'm excited about doing spirng things, we get dumped on. My sled is all tucked away already.

Tow services vary by inches of snow on the ground... it's $10 an inch of snow + $5 a mile both way + $1 a foot for how far your in the ditch

I haven't gone outside yet today but we went out to the bars last night. We got there at about quarter to ten and there was nothing. Well at about 10:30 I looked outside and it was coming down big time. Looked like a blizzzard!!! When we left at last call there was a good 4" on the streets. So about 4" in 2.5 hrs!!!! Well over an inch per hour. Like everyone else has been saying. This would've been really nice in say late Jan / early Feb....
firered834
Nothing in Two Harbors yet. Its going North. Maybe tonight we'll get something.
Jackpine
I spent the whole winter looking for this snowfall. Many forecasts predicted deep snow in Jan-March, it never happened. Now when I am ready for spring, it happens. Pretty frustrating.
MTM
Iron Range

If we drove over to Grand Rapids tomorrow morning from North Dakota, how much riding could we get in? Would we be able to ride the Taconite trail from Grand Rapids north and then to the east or are there now closed gates or oipen water on lake crossings? Are there any stud limitations on any trails in that area? RWS and I are planning to ride LOW tomorrow but may head that way instead if it looks promising.

May be alot of water on the trails in spots but you may not see it under all the snow. Id be very wary of riding areas that I am unframiliar with.

Also this storm has knocked many trees down, keep that in mind.

I took my sled out. I'm over in Hawley, MN... 20 miles east of Fargo. We've gotten about 7-8 inches so far and still coming down hard. Here's a few pictures from the last hour or so... kind of a fun unexpected last ride of the year... I already had the F5 stored away but the ZR was still sitting outside on the cement slab. Too bad the ditches are so full of water around here.

IanG
My father and I may head up to Remer tomorrow.

Will ditches be rideable? Maybe the Soo Line?
Jackpine
I think the trails closed on the 1st of april, but I am sure the ditches are rideable. We have had 16 total inches so far, with 4 to 8 more on the way. I have not rode in 16 fresh inches of snow for a few years now.
Snoprotogo
Ditches around Bemidji, namely TH 71 are a riot.Bout a ft. of snow and still snowin.
sledandy
IanG, my dad was up at our cabin this weekend in Remer and he left there at about 1:00 this afternoon and said he measured 12" of snow and it was still coming down HARD he said. The forecast says another 4-6" of snow tonight so i would definately think it would be rideable and then some.
firered834
1/2" in Two Harbors now and it just started with light rain
timespentsearching
here pics you guys at the ranch in nevis. the tracotr was sitting in front of the shop so it really tell how much snow we had just by morning. the wind was so strong the snow was blowing everywhere. and then the IQ just sitting there, never got to go ride, o well.
CHUB_CHUB
have about 15 inches at my house in ely now, and still coming down hard. the fresh snow helped me out on the hillx track today and also the cooler temps.
IanG
Is it worth it to travel 3 hours to ditch/forest road this stuff?
catf1000s/p
nice you guys got some good stuff, here in the north east maine there is still 3 ft base and 5 ft in the woods

only if you leave tomorrow morning at like 5. you will only get one day of riding in. its goign to be 45 tomorrow. lots of wet snow though. it will be 15-18 for sure then all done. be already had about 15 when we left at 1:30 and it was snowing like hell still.
nacapster
I don't have a tape measurer with me but I'm guessing as of dusk there was a good 18"+, prolly be a solid 2 feet by morning. Check out this pic of a park bench. Damn I wish my sled wasn't damn near 4 hours away!!!!! The last time MN (at least other than the iron range / north shore) got 2 feet of snow in 24hrs was the great Halloween blizzard of 91, so about 17 years ago. Damn why couldn't this have happened in Jan / Feb, could've had a awesome winter.
f7snoprobro
Rained all night yesterday, been snowing since 2pm this afternoon. About 8" on the ground now.
nacapster
Here's a few more showing some buried cars etc...

RCX
This was a spot I don't think was hit by the snow from the snowblower and usually doesn't drift here.....was clean or had hard packed snow below when I left for Duluth Friday morning...

THIS was all clean and clear on Friday morning..

Took the sled out for awhile, not fun not knowing exactly where to ride, but went and climbed some hills was fun...Might go out tomorrow for a little while if it stops snowing, it got prety hard to see where I was going.
