I am coming off a 2002 600 classic with an M-10 with 8,500 miles. sled has been great and I love the ride on groomed trail's, but it is time to get in too the rider forward stance. All my freinds have a Ski-doo's XP getting 18-20 MPG. I am thinking of getting an 09 Renegade 4-Tec $10,000. or a 2008 600 Switch back left over or used 2008 Switch Back $6,800 to $7,600. I love the 600 motor from polaris. Any info would be great.

I have a 07 600 cfi sb with the 144x1.5
it is the best riding sled i have owned
mpg is 14-17 handles great on trails or in the mountians
uses very little oil 4 1/2 qts for 800 miles of mountian

I rode an 08 600 switchback up in the UP this winter, and I have to say it was the nicest riding sled I have ever been on. and the power was very strong, and I have an 03 PROX 800. I rode it right after riding an 07 700 Fusion, absolutly no comparison the Switchback is a way smoother ride and a better motor. it soaks up the bumps very similar to my other buddies 02 600 with an M-10. I just snow checked an 800 Dragon Switchback so I am keeping my finger crossed.

I've ridden both, and prefer my dragon switchback. That's not saying the switchback is faster or anything, but I really like the switchback ride and handling. I got about 15 mpg on my last ride and am very happy with that. I really wonder what the xp would get riding side by side. The xp styling is okay, but again, I prefer the polaris. my two cents.

I personally bought a 600 Dragon Switchback this winter (bought it around Feb 1st) and I loved it too. Now, I did have 1 problem with it initially - the stator failed 3 miles into my first ride. That will ruin your weekend pretty quickly. Had that fixed and was able to still get a couple of rides in the rest of the winter. I've got maybe 700 miles on it now. I would agree with the previous post of 14-15 mpg. The only issue I have is oil consumption. Tons! The last ride I did I topped off the oil, and after 120 miles, the light was on. When I got back to the hotel, I had about an inch left in the tank. There are a bunch of posts on here regarding adjustments due to this same issue. Now that Winter is over, I figured I'll make those tweaks in the Fall.

My last ride was with a friend on a Pro X2 700. As I stated above, MPG is much better than the carb models. When we filled up, he was outspending me everytime, even when he put in a lower octance and I stayed with the higher. We switched for awhile and I couldn't believe how 'rough' that sled felt compared to mine. When we switched back, he commented the same - couldn't believe how smooth mine was. We did 'line em up' for a quick rip across a snow covered field in the backcountry. Probably only got to 60 mph before the field ended and I had him all the way. Not sure what would have happened if we ran full all out on a longer stretch. But he is on a 700 so if he took me, I would expect that.

As long as I can correct my oil consumption, I am extremely happy I did what I did. I had considered a non Dragon 600 SB, a 600 Dragon IQ, or a Shift. Plus I bought mid-season so I got a great deal. I can't make any comparisons to the Doo as I have not ridden a 'gade in a few years. I can just tell you I love this Polaris.

Well you are not going to get that kind of gas milage out of the switchback. If that is not important to you then I would say you can't go wrong with either one. I like the price and engine better on the switchbach though.

go with the switchback all the way - don't buy into the hype of the XP like all the others........I've got 3K on my 07 CFI with no problems and it flies............

07 600 CFI switchback. Love the sled. I get 15-17mpg all day long. I do ride trails about 80% so I did tighten the limiter strap. A little tippy in the corners. I ride with a guy who has a 600 SDI renegade and he get 14-17mpg as well. I am a little faster all away around. In the trails he is alittle bit faster.

Thanks for all the info. I have found a 2008 600 SB for $7500 ( New) and a 2008 600 SB dragon for $8185.00 (new) is the Dragon worth the extra $700.00? I do 95% trail riding. Thanks again.

imo yes.. it is worth the difference. totally different riding experience. better shocks, better handlebar position, better looking (imo) etc.

I'll take the standard Switch over the dragon anyday. Nothing wrong with the rydes, Great shock and cheap to service. The stock bars do suck.
