After a lot of researching and a few posts on this site , the stator seemed to be the culprit to my low spark condition. I bought an RM stator and installed it over the weekend and now it has a very weak spark and won't even start ! What gives ? Could I have mixed up the installation ? the original stator ran but was so weak at idle that it won't idle.

Are these after markets that bad ? Could it possible still be something else like my coil ? I replaced the small stuff (caps and wires).

Any advice

Thanks in advance

Check the readings on the stator. My money is the coil. Rememberr the coil increases the spark. When the magnet in the flywheel passes the stator there is a charge generated. Then it goes to the coil.
Something is F*&*d up.
Sorry!

I'll check it but it seemed like all three cylinders were the same before and after the stator change. But who knows.

thanks

Feelgood, You chimed in on a post last week about "stator troubles".

Your R M Stator is junk, There is only one good use for a R M Stator after they rewind them, they make the best paper weights in the world.

My money is on the stator!!!

I have one I just got back from stator corp about a week ago, If you are interested???

I appreciate the help, I might actually take you up on it if I find time to work on it. I checked the Stator and it specs out ok with a volt meter. But the spark is very weak. The flywheel had a little surface rust on it but I left because it actually ran. Any advice on how to increase my spark. Same spark intensity across all cyclinders.

Thanks

Blaine
Sounds like stator if all of the connections are good. I had a bad coil this year but thought it was the stator at first. A tell tale sign of a bad coil is that the spark will be uneven between the 3 plugs. You'll have 1 or 2 plugs that are very bright blue and one that is weak. I checked my spark and noticed that two of my plugs were firing a huge blue spark and the other plug was a dull yellow. I read on Arcticchat that this is a tell tale sign your coils aren't working properly. After I changed out my coils it ran great.
