I am wondering if anyone has done this swap. I recently blew the motor in my 98 XC700 and I am looking at my options to get it back running. The engine requires a crank up rebuild and I am not sure if I want to do that or find another motor. I may have a line on an 03 700VES motor and I am wondering if it would be worth it to go this route. I would like to get the old girl running again rather then part it out.

Thanks for your input.

Why not? Should be an easy swap. 700 VES is nice motor. torquey - if your getting it complete with flatslides carbs and CDI for a good price......give er!

I have a 99xc700, with a 2003 600ves in it.
All you have to do is modify a few bolts holes, and you're good to go. The electrical plug even plugs right in.
Took me about 2hours to do the entire swap.

That sounds good, I was hoping there wasnt to much modifying to do with hoses/lines or bolt locations. Now all I need to do is get a god price on the motor and hopefully back in the running.

Thanks

I did a 800 VES swap into a 98 for a customer.

Can I get away with using my original exhaust and air box or do these need to be changed as well?

I am running stock pipe, aftermarket can, and stock airbox. Airbox doesn't sit quite right, but it not an issue.
I had to cut a whole for the exhaut, but it's not a big deal.
