My dad is 65 years old, so top speed is not a concern. He presently has a 2001 phazer 500 fan, I think he would benefit from a new 4 stroke Yamaha.
He does not care about top speed or fast acceleration.
He never stands up or goes off groomed trails.
but he can ride and handle a sled very well.

So what is a good sled me to get for him, for about $5000-$8000 and at least 2004 or newer
any suggestion please

I would suggest either a Venture, or a Rage.....both have the same motor (120 hp), and the Venture is the most comfortable ride....like riding a sofa down the trail. The Rage is 136" and lighter than the 2-up Venture.

Both sleds can easily be found in that price range.

My wife and I rode 130 miles last weekend, and she still had almost 1/2 a tank of gas in her '06 Venture!

They started making the 4 stroke venture in '03 or '04, and still make them. Its a very comfy cruiser sled that still can easily keep up on the trails. You can also take off the rear passenger seat, and have extra room for cargo. The venture has a 144" track.

The Rage is a 136" with a 120 hp 4 stroke 3 cylinder motor...very reliable sled with great fuel economy. Handles and rides nice with plenty of zip.

You could also consider a Vector, which is the 121" with the 120 motor, although the longer tracked sleds have a better ride.

Your dad has a couple of years on me, but I bet I can tell you with a certain degree of confidence that your dad still appreciates perfomance - but the name of the game will be more about ride. Be cool to get him on somethnig that might do both? Not sure how he'll like the handling of the Venture. That's a BIG sled. How about something in the 136" range with a custom tuned (Pioneer/Hygear - to his weight/riding style) monoshock suspension? You should be able to do that pretty easily in your price range. Get him something like that in a 4cyl. and he may be tough to shake...... Just me.
