XCR 600 MODI

Hi guys, I got an XCR 600,with V forse reeds, and S L P tripple pipes .I broke the bottom off the middle piston, and scored the walls.I took the other cilenders off and there's marks on them as well. The xcr is 11 years old and this is the first time the motor was appart. If I bore the 3 cilinders ot to 10 thousand pot new pistons and over size rings in will I still be able to trail like I used to. Any other ideas..Thanks alot guys..

Yes you can, just send pistons with cylinders to be re-done so they can clearance properly.

don why cant we bore out these cylinders? the 600 xcr ones i have have a very thick "sleeve" thickness to them, there is plenty of wall to take them out to an ultra piston, then his stock pipes would work even better.

Normally it's so cost prohibitive to do so we don't recommend it to anyone, you can usually find a set of good used larger cylinders to use, and he was asking about doing a .010" overbore on 1 cylinder, I assumed a re-nic would be a better choice.

Modi, doing fine here. Over the years of playing with non ves fuji triples we have an extra 800 top end sitting on the shelf. They are over bored xcr 600 cylinders with a cast iron sleeve and use 800 storm pistons. One end of one of the circlips came out and left a gouge in one cylinder. It looks to me like a .020 or .040 bore job would make them like new again. This top end was originally $2500 from HTG, around 170 hp. Before we noticed the damage it was giving the 809s fits.

if you don't want your firecat buds knowing what you're doing...this is the wrong place to be asking questions...they read this forum also..LOL..pm Don or the other guys and ask questions privately.. the 680 Ultra cyls & pistons work really well with SLP low reving pipes and SLP needles..head re-worked by Don...clutch kit and a gearing change and you'll have a mini rocket on your hands..

It seems like a dumb question, but is that sled in MODI's avatar a "wedge" chassis? If so, is this discussion really about a triple Monoblock engine, rather than a triple triple? Just wondering.

in all honesty, I went from the 800 ves to the 600 top end. same bottom end and stuff. i geared the sled way down. geared for about 90 mph. played with the pipes a little to get the 600 to run nice. I could run with strong 700 twins even me being a heavier guy. and off trail riding was a little easier, with the 800 top end you punch it in a panic to get up a hill or out of a tough spot and sometimes it got a little hairy. with the 600 the less power made it easier to ride hard.
