Hi Gang
Just had to post a note about a trip we had this past weekend in Quebec.
6 of us left Edmunston on Friday last week and headed toward Montmagany Que. We went up the rail bed TQ85 to the TQ 5 and then down the 5 to Montmagany. We had a good selection of stops along the way as most of the clubs have relais with good food and a warm stove. We spent the night at the hotel L'Oiseliere. This was a welcome site as it started to snow around 9pm. We setlled in for the night with great accomodations.
Got up the next morning to some flurries -4C and headed out to trail 551. We crossed the TQ35 and continued down the 551 to Saint Paul - de-Montminy. We went into the Appalaches Lodge for some lunch. What a place!! This is an unbelivable spot and every one should see this place. I can't give it a description so I will give you the link www.appalachesspa.com . I can tell you this will be in our plans for next season for sure ! We left there and went to the TQ55. The trails to this point have been the best I have ever been on, table top the whole way.We had another stop in Saint Fabien-de-Panet. Loads and loads of snow everywhere.Left there late afternoon and went onto the TQ35. I have to explain this trail. This is an old rail bed and before you say to your self ( boring ). This trail is about 20 feet wide groomed to the outside edge and table top for 100 miles. This trail would make piston alley look like a rabbit trail. No offense to the club and people that groom and run this trail. Just a chance to decribe this trail.
We had an issue with one sled that had a crank problem but when you have to double up this trail made it fun !! We stopped in for gas at the Relais 540. Met Andrew and his wife in their warm place. Good place to get some good food and warm up a bit.
We then turned off the TQ35 and onto the 526 and over to the TQ85. Again, the trails were super. We stopped in Degelis and then onto to Edmunston.
What a great way to end the season! I am sure there will be snow for many weeks to come. The only thing to keep in mind is that this was the last weekend for many clubs to groom. We also noticed that some brooks were starting to run and anywere you had to run to a gas station the road side will be bare very soon.
I had hoped to visit "Groomer" but our time and schedule wouldn't allow that. Next year Groomer !
I can't seem to get my pictures to work?
I will try again and post them later.
