hey guys i am wanting a new 08 cat 700 but what are the differences between the new h1 motor and the suzuki one they have been using for years?
thats the only decision i need to make is h1 v.s the original

The suzuki 700 is being phased out, so I would get the H1. I believe the only difference is the hemi head on the cat. check arcticchat, it should be on there somewhere

The Cat 650 H-1 is a single cyclinder, and the motor for the 650 and the 700 were Kawasaki motors, from the prarie, they are a V-twin motor, same with the 650's and the 700's, if you get the H-1 its a single cycilner with hemi head, the standard cat 650 or the 700 are Kawi motors and they are V-twin

The 650 H1 is a single but so were all AC 700's, the only twin Kawi motor used in a Cat was the 650 V2. The 700 H1 EFI is a Cat motor and has the race driven suspension, it has a little bit more power than the 700 EFI which is a Suzuki. I drove both and my money would go on the H1 700, more fun to drive.

this is my dilema too. dealer has a std 700 that he really wants to get rid of so he can bring in some H1's trying to decide if there is a big enough diff in the two.

I have heard the difference isn't very noticeable.

I have driven them both and the H1 has alot more pick up. The top end speed is about the same but the H1 has alot more accelaeration and power. The Suzuki built 700 has been reliable but so has the 650 H1 Cat. ( wich is what the 700 is based on) You can pick up a non H1 cheaper. I think if you ride with the boys you would prefer a H1. If you dont buy the reg 700.

There are pro's and con's with both. The H1 is probably a little better on the low end for torque, but has a Single Cam and rocker arms. The Suzuki 700 motor used in the standard 700 has twin cams with no rockers so the motor is quieter. The low end lag on the Zuk motor is noticeable, but you can always get a copperhead for a 5+ h.p. instant gain where as the H1 doesn't have that...... yet.
