Snowfall warning for
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West issued

Snow accumulations of 15 to 20 centimetres for today and tonight.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A developing area of low pressure in the mid Atlantic states early this morning is forecast to track south of Nova Scotia tonight. Snow from this system is forecast to move into southwestern Nova Scotia this morning and reach Cape Breton this afternoon.

Current indications are that the heaviest snowfall from this system will be along the south shore of Nova Scotia from Yarmouth to Halifax. In this corridor 15 centimetres of snow are forecast with some areas possibly near 20 centimetres.

The snow is likely to be mixed with rain at first especially from Shelburne to Cape Sable Island and west to Yarmouth and snowfall amounts right along the shoreline in this region are likely to be lower.

The snow is expected to taper off in southwestern Nova Scotia late this evening and will linger in Cape Breton until the overnight hours.
