Sorry I realise that this is the wrong section but the racing section gets no replies. What would you make you Comp ramp 1 landing out of chips or dirt?

Can you land an mx bike in chips?

chips just seem to make more sense to me for a landing for a sled.

Had a friend that a sno-x track in his yard, he actually had a mixture of wood chips and hay. I

Do do you stack the chips though, doesn't the landing just fall apart?

use dirt as a base because fill is uaually cheaper than chips, and then put like 2' of chips on top of that, idk if i would land a bike on chips, chips do have a tendancy to not hold together, and it wold suck to have your front tire was out when landing

Snofevr has it right.

We make our landings out of dirt then cover them with chips or a chip/hay mixture. One thing about chips and or hay, they decompose and create heat. IF you leave lots of chips on your ramp during the fall/winter they may start decomposing and heat up. As they heat up you can't get snow to stay on the ramps.

How very true about the heat, maybe in the winter just throw them off to the side.

if ur goin money wise and less work for basicly the same job just go with the dirt, then u dont have to take them off in the winter
