I am looking at a Yamaha for the first time and am unsre what to persue. I originally wanted an 09 Apex GT which retail for $11,699 then my dealer said he can still find me a 08 anniversary edition (which would have Ohlins up front) for much less. I just don't think I want to but a year old sled plus it only has a 1 year warranty vs. 4 on a 09. Then I started looking at the Apex ltx and Apex Ltx gt so my biggest question is this, Is the GT version worth the $1,000 extra dollars over a Apex/er or Apex ltx?? This sled will be ridden primarily in Quebec. Thank You

Strongly consider the sled I have forsale in my signature. LTX will ride better on the trail and I have never needed the GT on the trail. 2 years warranty goes with mine.

Hi pipeman where do you ride in Quebec ?

I'd say GT if you're the kind of guy that demands top performance from his suspension and is willing/able (or willing to learn) to tweak it to his personal satisfaction. If you're more of the gas and go type that parks his sled when it gets rough out, GT is a wast of money. You'd be much happier with a Std. version.

I don't see any reason the warranty should be only 1 year if it's a brand new "leftover". Should still be a 4 year. As far as it being a year old sled, I think you're better off with an '08. Considerable price difference, more fuel capacity ('09s are required to have a double layer tank), and nothing else different except graphics.

I would also suggest the LTX. I've never owned a 121" but have ridden a few and never will. There are a ton of people on Totallyamaha that have switched to 136", or more, and wish they would've have done it a long time ago. Also, most of the shorty riders are switching gears, secondary springs, etc. to what the LTX comes with stock. These things are wicked fast out of the box.

As far as the GT/standard goes, the only difference is the shock type and electronic adjust vs. manual adjust. This will all depend on pesonal preference and your local conditions.
one ton fun

If you primarily ride on quebec trails(90% smooth) than I would get an apex er of ltx. If you are riding on the same quebec trails I ride on you dont need the great shocks. Those trails are smooth!

Tip for you yammy guys.
When your on the trail, reach down in your filler neck and pull out that white sleeve when your filling up with gas..when done stick it back in...you can get almost another gallon of gas...theres peeps that do it all the time...no probs...just wouldent leave it stored full to the top I guess.
